It was dry today, sunny at times then a little overcast, but dry...

I took the opportunity to spend a few hours and apply some Poorboys Blackhole over the car.
As stated before its black, and yes, there are swirl marks.

The Poorboys Blackhole does a great job of filling / masking these and makes an amazing difference, although it really has to be seen in person, pictures really don't do it justice.

The finish before when clean is a little like 4000 grit sandpaper almost, afterwards its more like Glass and the difference shows...

Thanks Pinnacle, it was some product I had left over and wanted to use to try to glossy her up a little.

Being Black and although not necessarily neglected by the previous owner, she has her issues, specifically with swirl marks and a little hologramming.

Ideally I'd love to get myself a DA kit and correct these, then a nice wax / sealant etc, but the filler / glaze will have to do short term.
It does a really great job for what it is and is easy on, easy off which is nice.

 

So it just fills the swirls, rather than working them out?
I imagine that eventually the filler will wash out & you'll be back to how it was before?

The guys at my local carwash / detailing place have been begging me to let they clay bar the XJR, it's also covered in swirls...

 

Yes Cameron, its a filler / glaze and temporary to a degree.

You can increase the longevity by topping of with something like Nattys Blue paste wax.

Don't know that a claybar will do much for swirl marks Cameron, I'm sure it 'll remove ay contaminats and smooth out the paint, but not much more.

Here's an idea of the difference it made to my car today ( this is not my car only a representative picture ) of what can be achieved.

My efforts were achieved by hand, better results can be had with a DA as well as less time consuming.

I'm considering getting myself a DA porter kit and trying my hand at some correction moving forward.

 

Go for it Jim! I ordered a Griot's DA two years ago and haven't waxed by hand since. It literally cuts down the time by half and is almost effortless. Another good thing is you will be able to lay down a nice thin coat of wax which I could not do by hand.
