Default Airbag light

My partner had to do an emergency stop the other day and since she has had an airbag warning light appear. Took it to a local garage today and it was reset. Was fine for a day and has come back again. Any ideas of what it could be before I take it in again?

I got nothing. Hopefully when you take it back to the same local shop they will not charge you to look at it for the second time!

Welcome to the forum Tom,

Unless the "local garage" has JLR Pathfinder diagnostics, all they could have done is clear codes. If the underlying fault causing the warning has not been resolved, the code and the warning will return. The airbags are part of a complex system. A good illustration of the components in the SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) is in the Parts Catalogue:

It looks very similar to my F-Pace which is not surprising as Jaguar use designs across the range.

The sensors are primarily to send an impact signal to the RCM (Restraint Control Module) but the front one is also measuring deceleration. The RCM determines whether this is sufficiently high to justify deployment of one or more airbags. If it is not then event codes are still stored which can be examined with diagnostics.

It is possible that a sensor has failed either coincidentally or as a consequence of the emergency stop and the post-ignition check sequence of the SRS is failing - hence the warning. This needs either a dealer or similarly equipped independent to diagnose as the first step in troubleshooting is code reading.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
