Default best electronic ignition

Comments from folks who have installed electronic ignition conversions such as Pertronix, Mallory, or 123?

I've just acquired a '65 FHC and evidently it has an aftermarket distributor in it. I have to figure out which one it is. It runs well but could be better. This is the beginning of the process.

Hello Jim,
I've fitted many, of various manufacture and all positive. The appearance under the bonnet is virtually unchanged and the performance, starting and running has always been improved. The other advantage is that you have no points to erode, requiring maintenance.

You must be very careful not to connect the battery up incorrectly, as this will kill the unit in a heartbeat.

Regards,

Brent

Hi Jim,
I have just upgraded my car's electronics, rebuilt the original distributor and fitted a Pertronix electronic ignition which I am very pleased with and works really well.
Regards
Mike

I've run the Mallory Distributor, it ran just fine. Then, I had my OEM Lucas re-calibrated and rebuilt with a Pertronix installed and it runs super fine. Later on, I added a CD box. It's all been working very well for the last 8-10 years. No hiccups, the far. Still have the Mallory Dist. ?????
One of the best mods I made, was swapping the factory needles for UEs in 2011. That made one of the best improvements to-date. But then, I'm running the SUs.

I've run Pertronix in all of my British cars, for years...I like them, and for all the reasons stated...My only caveat , is IF it lets you down, you need to carry a spare unit, as there is no fixing of it , once it dissolves.
