Default Cam cover plating question

I am a newbe to the forum and to Jags. I have a 1966 series 1 and I am redoing the egine. I see the inlet manifold is aluminum and I'll get that polished but the Cam cover seem to be an alloy. Can they be polished or should they get chrome plated? Thanks for any help.

The cam covers are made of aluminium and were originally polished. A later design had a ribbed exterior, and was enamelled black. Chrome plating of aluminium can be done, but is rarely successful with older castings like yours due to corrosion pitting. I suggest you get them repolished.

Are yours plain or ribbed style ?
