Coating on suspension
#2
Hi Matthew63,
Since known else answered I'll take a stab at it. Let me first say that I'm not a series III expert. From being at Jaguar concours over the last 40 years I would say they should be silver cadmium plated. the only ones that I know that weren't were a few very early series I E-types.
Hope this helps

The term used in Richard Russ' book "Jaguar V-12 E -Type A guide to Authenticity" is "Bright Cad". So it would seem that silver cadmium is correct. When I had mine done years ago at a wall known restoration shop, they proposed an alternative, electroless nickel, which they said looks very close to Bright Cad but lasts much longer. Its been about 17 years now and they look like new, so maybe this is something to consider. Just sayin'
