Jaguar E-Type 1970 Fuel Pump
I have a 1970 E-Type with a Holley fuel pump that is very very loud. I noticed it was installed with only one nut and bolt directly to the body with a wire ...that I guess is the positive feed to the pump on the underside (the nut end). My mechanic told me that the Holley pump is very good....but this thing is so noisy it is ruining my driving experience. I was wondering if the SU pump is noisy? Is it reliable? Or, if I keep the Holley should I install it on a piece of rubber to isolate it from the body....always keeping that bottom wire etc grounded? Maybe even put some insulation in the body between the pump and the front compartment to deaden the sound? But with the nut and bolt still connected to the body on the underside I think it will not help. Could I even mount the pump off the body (on a piece of ply or maybe a block of plastic). Thoughts please!

Thanks Cov Foundation. I grew up in Cov (hence the Jag in LA!). Quick follow up. You say the pump and/or pump mount is isolated, do you know how it is installed? Isolated from the body and frame? Just wondered. I think I am safe mounting a rubber "shelf" and then mounting the pump on it....stuff some insulation down the rear wing. Attaching pic...shows the pump and nut/bolt attachment ....if you could take a look and let me know your thoughts....thanks
