Long shot!
Nee here so I apologize if I say/do anything out of the norm. So my dad is turning 70 this year, he had a 70 xke convertible that he talks about all the time...yellow/black top and interior. He had to sell it when I came along back around 1978. We lived in Bristol Connecticut then. I thought what better gift than to find him a decent one for his birthday...esp since he had to sell it because of me! Then I saw the range of values. But I thought I’d also look for his actual car and just maybe someone knew it or saw this post. A jag would be awesome but the jag would be amazing. I appreciate any insight or advice. Thanks
It would help if you had the VIN of the car you're looking for.
They're all traced by the VIN.
I hope you find THE car, it would indeed by an Awesome gift to your dad.
However, according to the Rulz, you should first post an Into here:

Go to these clubs in the area--you will need more info-like your dad's name etc. A VIN would be super as there are other ways of tracking--look for old insurance cards and such!

If you want to spend a ton of time you can go through the XKE registry, around 50K cars in it but without a VIN you are talking a significant investment in time and the car may have been repainted. Good luck! XKE Data - Keeping track of every Jaguar E-Type - Jaguar E-Type (XKE) information, articles, photos and register
If you have any photos of your Dad with the car you might be able to see the license plate number and work backwards from there. If he belonged to a local club that was involved in competitive events, that might be an additional source of info or photos. Good luck in your search.

The car is now red...a Ray Pignitor of South Carolina had it in 2003 then listed on eBay in 2007. It was sold to a Jim Larson in 2007. He is part of jaguar club of North America. I’ll try to register for that and see if any luck there
Haven’t heard back at all but I’ll keep trying. Is there a site where you can look up jag vins. I have searched but most sites want 17 digit vins. And the one I have is p1r12733. I found the p is for power steering. So is that the actual full vin?
