Mallory dual pt to Pertronix distributor/spark plug gap increase?
I am finishing up changing over my '67 XKE semi lightweight from a Mallory dual point to a Pertronix distributor. The car is fairly well modified, triple webers, hotter cams, headers, higher compression, etc. I did not change the coil from the Lucas gold coil to the Pertronix hot coil, (should I), and am also wondering if I should open the spark plug gap, presently its at 30 thousands. Any thoughts?
Thanks

This is my research, I used the standard Pertronix system on my XKE ( Factory compression) and the HP Pertronix system on my XJ6 EFI. Happy with both.
If you are using the HP Pertronix distributor (# D171618 and matching coil # 3673 45k volts - 0.6 ohm) you can open up spark plug gap .005 over book safely. You can experiment with more, but unless you are all out racing you won't see or feel improvement.... Kind of a Dyno testing thing were every bit of performance is important.
If you have the standard Distributor (#D177600 and standard coil # 3670 40k volts - 3.0 ohm) you should run book spark plug gap. I think the Lucas Sport coil works fine with this distributor.
