Rear. Hubs
i have my 71 e type up on stands with the wheels off. The hubs will not turn without much force being apllied with a wrench between two wheel studs. I was looking at the repair operations manual and it seems like the wheel hub itself should kind off float on the hub assembly and be held in adjustment with the bold and washer. Should i use a wheel puller to get the wheel hub loose? I tapped it with a hammer and got no where
The motor will easily turn the wheels at idle in all 4 gears

You might need a puller, because years ago, poeple complained about a clicking noise from the rear, and it was identified as the driveshaft splines on the hubs. So Jaguar decided, in their wisdom, to apply Loctite to the splines. End of clicking problem, and start of problem for all the Jaguar home mechanics ! I actually did hear this clicking on my 1980 XJ6 in the late 90s when going over a rather rough unmade road. Having previously read about this, I was able to ignore it as it is not really a problem. In fact, when I replaced the rear hub bearings, I put grease on the drive shaft splines gto stop corrosion !!
Update: I am trying yo remove the half shaft at the rotoer passenger side if it mattered I cannot get the bolts holding the flange to loosen. I have an 18MM socket enought extra signs to get past the body and a 2 ft breaker bar (all 1/2)” using all my strength I cannot get the last bolt free it took tree and took tremendous effort to break the other three free Could this over tightening of the unbolt flange on the half shaft be why my rear end does not turn freely?
