Default Series III Automatic?

Sold my '69 OTS, couldn't press the clutch anymore, or that brick of an accelerator, aged out.
Now considering a Series III but terrified of V12 service costs. Anyone have experience w/ the increase in servicing/parts costs?
Plus those black bumper guard overriders would have to go immediately.Agreed?
Thanks
David

Service costs will be a drop in the bucket compared to that of removing the overriders. Actually, once sorted the 12 doesnt need much non routine service.

Hello David,
General maintenance is not all that costly beyond that of a 6 cylinder engine, except that when purchasing items like spark plugs and leads, you buy them by the dozen. Fuel consumption is the most noticeable thing; you can expect to get no better than around 14mpg with the engine in good tune.

Converting to European style over-riders is not all that expensive and is a one off expense. See my Post in the Thread "Big Black Bumper Guards".

Regards,

Brent

I know of a really nice '73, Sable, Biscuit, auto, no a/c, low miles, 2 long time owners that were neighbors. I've seen it and it's really nice. The car is in Santa Barbara.

Thanks for the lead,
Sable can be nice.....have any idea what the asking price is, or contact info, it can be through here or an email address. The Series III market is really in flux, you see numbers all over the place....some think them abhorrent others stick huge prices on them, unlike the Series II, which 60K buys a high end driver.

A 1974 manual OTS, colour changed from Old English White to Signal Red, Trim and Paint reasonable but nothing special, with a very untidy engine bay, no historical significance, and notwithstanding an advertised price range of AUD70K to 90K, sold at auction in July here in Australia for AUD230K. In the August, same auction house, a S3 2+2 sold for AUD149K. Again, the car was nothing special.

Regards,

Brent

That's reasonable if it needs nothing and is a high end driver.. I'll wait for his message or call him directly.
Thanks Kip.
