Default Series 1 bumpers on a series 2

I just picked up a 1975 series 2 And would like to retro fit series 1 bumpers also the grill.
Does anybody know if this can be done!

It can be done, but you need to replace: -

- hood
- both front wings
- lower front valance
- possibly the turn indicator lamps

Basically the Series 2 raised the bumper line, and this involved changes to wings and hood and radiator grill. It was quite a change, forced by US legislation, so look to your own politicians to blame.

Look at pics of Series 1 and 2 to see the differences, there should be some on the internet. Herre are a couple.

Why series 1? Consider series 2 euro instead for that classic clean look. Good quality reproduction bumpers are availble . You would still need new hood hinges, euro front vailance, euro lower grill and turning signals. You can find most everything on ebays UK site. For the rear you will have to cut off the bumper shocks and weld on a plate and stud to mount the bumper. Any other plans for your Jag....perhaps a chevy tpi conversion?

Default Thanks for the info

I like the idea of the cleaner look. As for the Chevy, I'm thinking about driving the six while I get the cosmetic's the way I want. Then I'm thinking LS with a 4L60e Going to look for parts now, sounds like have done the bumper exchange.

Ls with a 4l60e is a geat idea. With that kinda power the suspension becomes an issue. Start looking for an LSD and rear swaybar setup too. You will need stiffer rear cage isolators too or you will have wheel hop. Consider stiffer kyb or koni shocks too. Its fun to hotrod a jag because it requires a bit of creativity.

I found a series 2 euro bumper with hinges, grill, and turn lights.BUT the bumper is to rusty to use. By thr time I got the chrome off the darn thing looked like lace. Tried silver solder, cost more to fix than I paid for the car. I need a bumper!

Can series 2 euros be put on a series 3 (86 XJ6)? What all would need to be changed?
