Sticking throttle 68 S1.5 automatic tranny
My 68 S1.5 automatic tranny equipped E has always seemed to have a sticky throttle. I think the kickdown cable may have something to do with it, although it is new. Problem gets worse when engine is hotter. I added a return spring with little improcement. Is there a cable conversion for that improvement. I know the Lotus Elan has similar twin ZS carbs with a cable. Help please.

This is a common issue with E-types. Mine was doing the same thing (68 2+2) . Look carefully at the throttle linkage where it is closest to the engine frame while someone pushes down the throttle petal. Likely some rubbing/sticking there as this happens when the engine mounts pancake over time. A temp fix is to loosen the mounts a bit, raise the engine from below using a wide plank under the oil pan, and slip a thick washer or shim over the engine mounts. Use horseshoe shaped shims, or cut a slot into a washer. Or order new mounts and replace them to get more clearance between throttle linkage and engine frame.
