Considering new purchase but have no garage. Can you recommend a winter cover for car in the UK or is it a bad idea to purchase if unable to garage the vehicle ? Thanks

This would have been more appropriate to post in the UK & Eire Region forum but I'll leave it here.

I've never been a fan of outdoor covers as the only safe way to use them is on a clean, dry vehicle or risk scratching the paint. Perhaps OK for full Winter storage but not if contemplating occasional use. My Jaguars have always been used throughout the Winter and often stand outside overnight. As the Highways Authority and our Local Authorities in the north of England delight in the use of salted grit, the biggest concern is washing off the salt regularly. That being said, if I had a convertible, I would seriously consider using a "half cover" to protect the top material. One example is from Classic Additions:

I use their indoor covers and have been pleased with the quality. No reason to think their outdoor equivalents would be any less of a standard.
