Default Winter storage of my 2006 XK8 convertible

I am "storing" my 2006 XK8 convertible for four months, Jan-Apr. it is in a semi-heated garage, never goes below 45 degrees, even if very cold outside. Does anyone have any thoughts, pro-con, regarding covering the car while we're gone? It's in a two-car garage, fully dry-walled, so not much dirt/dust. etc. I have the full car cover, custom fit.

Would appreciate any feedback

Thanks

IMO the only thing a cover will do is keep a bit of dust off the paint and protect from accidental small knocks when moving other stuff about. I would also make sure to leave the windows open a crack , inflate the tires to about max pressure or about 40 psi and hook up a battery tender.

If the car remains inside the garage for the duration of its storage period, I would not put a cover on it. However, I would carefully blow it off with a leaf blower every two to three weeks or so....

Thanks for the tips. I was leaning on leaving it uncovered, and do have a battery tender on it as well.

I use a Dust Top inside cover and an AGM Battery Tender. I do take it out occasionally on warm, sunny winter days.

wymjym,

I see no compelling reason for a separate car cover inside a closed garage. No need to protect the paint from the harsh rays of the sun, bird droppings, tree droppings, animals climbing on it, acid rain, etc. The closed garage supposedly covers all of those bases. And without the car cover sitting on top of it, the car is better able to "breathe". I have not utilized any car covers in more than 25 years. That is simply my preference. Others may have different preferences....

My reason fro suggesting the cover was from my own experience. My garage gets a lot of use and covers have protected my machines from accidental brushes with the handles of shovels , assorted other tools , and when moving the snowblower about

if there is any chance of rodent entry, place a bait station under the car.

With the vehicle on a CTEK, the only other special precaution I've learned to take for lengthy storage periods is to leave the parking brake OFF. They have a nasty habit of sticking ON.
