Default 6 cylinder models unavailable?

Decided to pop by the local dealer to check out the F-Pace. All they had on hand were some S models (4cyl) and 2 SVRs. Didn't have time to drive them both but took the S trim for a spin. Good power for a 4cyl, given the FP's size, but I'd definitely prefer one of the larger engines. Anyway, I'm kinda sorry I didn't even think to cross shop this before purchasing my X3 M40i last year. The FP is a dream to drive.

More to the point of this thread: When I asked aboiut the R-dynamic S (or anything with a 6cyl), they said they were basically not available due to chip shortages. All the FPs they have on schedule for the remainder of the year are S trim or SVRs. No 6cyl models coming at all, AND apparently I couldn't even order one. Factory would simply say 'nope can't do'.

Has anyone else heard this?

I think Jaguar F-Pace is going into the same direction as other of it's major competitors of the same size with a 2.0 engine (X5, XC90, Q5, GLE350, RX350 just to name a few), due to strict government regulations on emissions standard. Smaller engines, increased fuel economy and cutting emissions .Every car company has to set that goal. Noticed most of the modern vehicles now have Start/Stop system?
As to what I've read, by 2025 Jaguar will be an all EV car company

My suggestion is to look around in your particular F-Pace model, perhaps there are still left overs from other dealers statewide or if not....nationwide.. A CPO is also a good choice as well. I know it's not just you, there are others searching as well for their own F-Pace R-Dynamic
Good luck in your search

But Jaguar Land Rover just invested a ton of money into a brand new inline 6 engine (to replace the old V6). It's just beginning life.

Good point. Speaking of that engine. Am I correct in thinking the following:

2021+ models = refreshed interior design
2021 6 cylinder engine = turbo V6
2022 6 cylinder engine = I6 with turbo, supercharge, AND mild-hybrid?

Dimensionally, the current V-6 engine is only 4 or 6 cylinders "long". (Pardon my confusion, as I once heard that the V-6 is the same block as the V-8, but it has 2 cylinders "blanked off") The V-6 engine is crammed tight, into the F-Pace's engine bay, so how did they manage to stuff an engine that's 2 cylinders "longer" into an already "over-stuffed" engine compartment??

Default I ordered mine June 2021 and finally got it Dec. 2021.

Maybe if they know you are willing to wait you can get one! It’s AMAZING!!!
