Dream car
I purchased what I thought was my dream car, Certified 2021 F Pace P400 R Dynamic S late February 2025. Since then the car has been in the shop 4 times! Had to be towed in twice after it refused to start. An O2 sensor was replaced, a CVVL unit was replaced, oil changed, and now they are telling me that there is a knock in the engine. They have escalated to Jaguar. Vehicle has 38K miles. Suggestions as how to proceed.
Hi Piggly522, don't forget to post a bit of an intro at the New Member area.
I'm sure prior to buying your vehicle, you had a look and seen these are, at times, not the most reliable vehicles but then again, there are few now that are. If you're not mechanically inclined, then expect a lot of shop visits as there are numerous subtle indicators that if not caught can ballon, these vehicles are not very forgiving but fun.
I have to assume a few things in you post so please correct if I'm wrong. As you stated, it is a certified F-Pace, that would be a Jaguar Cerfitied Pre-Owned which you paid extra for coverage at the time of purchase? Or is it some dealership certification based on an inspection? (I am guessing it's a CPO as it is being floated back to Jaguar for validation) It would be a bit premature for an o2 sensor let alone a valve lift assembly issue, oil change is normal operations, but an oil sample has to be taken for warranty work (Especially for the CVVL assembly) and a knock can mean many things, was anything found in the used oil? I am also assuming you had a look at the maintenance log of the vehicle prior to purchasing.
I'm a little confused as to your question asking how to proceed. Since it is going back to Jaguar for confirmation of coverage on the repair, there is not much for you to do until a verdict is determined. Once you hear back from Jaguar as to the direction they offer, please let us know and maybe than, we might be able to help.
