I have a 2020 F-Pace SVR that has been sitting in a car garage with 3/4 of a tank of premium fuel for the past 18 months. I am wondering if I need to drain and replace the fuel before driving the car.

 

Hopefully you added fuel stabilizer way back. Keeps fuel from turning to varnish.

 

Unfortunately, I didn’t add stabilizer as I never expected the border would be closed for so long due to Covid.

 

In that case, I'd definitely recommend draining it. You could get a siphon hose from Advanced or O'Reiley's Auto Parts, or one of those Mity-Vacs they use for oil changes. Just get out as much as you can, then fill with fresh gas and you should be good to go. Also put in a bottle of injector cleaner.

 

On my motorcycle, I siphoned the old fuel while not in use from the winter months and put it in a gas container. I use the old fuel on my Craftsman string trimmer. Many uses on old fuel such as cleaning oil contaminated mechanical parts.
