15k service?
For the 15k service will a light come up on the dash to let you know the car needs service? And will the service department do the 15k service if you are slightly under 15k and with no light on (assuming the answer to the 1st question is "yes").
The vast majority of us don't recommend going the full 16K miles before an oil change. My 2014 came with the first service free, and I was told it was at 16,000 +/- 1000 miles, or 1 year +/- 1 month. You might check with your dealer to clarify.
Yes, it will give you a warning that an oil change is required, based on both time and mileage.

Thanks, DJS. Car was serviced and oil was changed last July but I don't believe it was the 15k service as the mileage was at about 8k then and receipt shows the previous owner paying for the oil change. I guess my best bet is to call the dealer and give them my vin to see where we stand.
Trying to time this so I can get the 15k service, free oil change, state inspection and have them look at a couple of minor things (speaker vibration) all in one visit since they are about an hour away.

At 1 year and 10k miles (first diy oil change at 3750), my dealer did a full multi-point service check in addition to the oil & filter change. Included fluid levels, all suspension and steering joints, engine codes, hoses and belt.

Just change your engine oil. You might damage the car by doing it too late, you will not damage it by doing it too early.
Get it into the dealer now. Otherwise you risk losing warranty coverage on the engine.
