Angry Dash Volume Control busted

The volume control on my dash control panel of my 2007 XK (Premium sound) stopped working. It still works as an on/off switch, and the volume control on the steering wheel still works, but no matter how you turn the dash volume knob, the volume remains the same. I just looked up the cost of a new control module from Jaguar, and it is over $1000.

I suspect the actual little volume control on the board behind the switches is a $5 part. Has anyone had any experience having these boards repaired?

Thanks

Grieving in Groton (MA).

Are you sure the button itself isn't stripped on the inside so that when you're turning it, the volume pin is not really getting engaged? Maybe pull it off and turn the stock with a plier or needlenose and see if that works.

If there's a way inside, you could spray a little Deoxit5 or similar contact cleaner around.

I swear that stuff can bring electronics back to life. May be worth the effort if you remove the volume knob and squirt some in.

You must be careful with certain Electronics Cleaners. Some will eat any paint or plastic they get near.
