Default 17MY S and question

Hello all,
I picked up my new 17MY F-Type S AWD yesterday and I am so completely smitten with the looks and the sound! Oh god, that sound!

I wanted to debadge the rear but the dealer said that since the car is new, raking the badges off may leave an outline and mess with the "lusture" of the paint on that part and that I should probably wait for a month or so...
Now, I know a whole lot of you have done the de-badging already and I really want to get them off too. So how much truth is in the dealer's suggestion? Should I really wait?

Looks very smart in white - congratulations!

There is a little truth in what the dealer is saying....unless you feel comfortable with some dental floss and a little alcohol to remove any residual glue that my be left ;-)

Go for it!

Welcome. Yes, beautiful car. Congratulations. Please convey interior color scheme, options, etc. it also helps if you list this info in your signature block. Go to the "User CP" tab to fill in. Hope you're ready for the attention.

New paint takes maybe 30-60 days to 'dry/cure' properly, so depending on the build date you may want to wait a little. Also remember that the Jaguar symbol on the boot (trunk) lid shouldn't be removed as it has pins that insert into holes in the hatchback.

I did mine at eight weeks from manufacture. No issue.

Factory paint is baked on and fully cured. It is not like aftermarket paint job. Your salesman doesn't know what he is talking about. But I would still be careful, if it were mine I would leave all the badges on. But sounds like you don't want them.

I removed the "R AWD" badges that the factory incorrectly applied and replaced them with the proper "S". I think that was only a few weeks after delivery, and I had no trouble, but I'm pretty careful with such things. Much later I removed the lettering only on the spoiler. In both cases I pulled the badges off rather than use the dental floss) or fishing line) method. The dental floss method is probably safer.

Thanks all for the inputs! I intend to leave only the leaper on the back and remove the rest. Considering your experiences, I'll de-badge it when I can visit the dealer next (I dont want to do it myself).
