Default New owner- F-Type R AWD

Hi Guys,
I'm new to Jag, have had Mercedes (and still do as a daily runner) but bought a V8 R on Friday. I haven't picked it up yet as I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks.
I'm sure I'll have loads of dumb questions but number 1:
Has anybody had experience of the Jaguar branded all-weather covers? I need to screen the car as my garage is currently out of bounds and the neighbours cats love sitting atop a convertible in the summer. (Yes, I'm tempted to shoot the cats too&#128514

I've been a member of the MB forum for years and I was passed the details of this site as a good one.
Oh, and I'll try to add a photo or two of the new beastie!!
Neil

I cover the car while it is stored inside to keep the dust off. When purchasing my car, the dealer wanted $600 for the cover. I could buy comparable one for $60 elsewhere. So as a matter of principle, I purchased one for $60.

I'd be very hesitant to cover the car sitting outside, especially if you live in a windy area. With wind moving the cover around, over time it can strip clear coat from the panel edges. Unless the car leaks (only applicable to classic cars) and leaving it outside would result in water getting in, it is better to leave it uncovered and simply wash it later.

You could always rent a garage. Yes, its a hassle. I know, since I have too many cars and not enough space to store them all on-site.

Cats and rodents hate strong odors. Dryer sheets work, just leave couple around and it should mitigate cat problem. Pine-Sol, Febreze and such also work, but to a lesser degree as they designed to evaporate quickly. Mothballs also work really well and last long time, but smell clings and is offensive to humans.

First of all, welcome and congrats on your purchase! Looks great and it must be hard to wait to pick it up. I find the cover helpful for dust purposes and have only used it in the garage to date. The dealer cover is expensive and their are cheaper alternatives on line. I found several on eBay. The points about cover rub on the clear coat are potentially a problem if on during extreme weather events at that point you are better off not using it for those days. At least until you can reclaim your garage. I ended up getting a shed to reclaim my third garage bay. I relegated my daily driver to the driveway.

Congratulations. Love blade wheels, and think they transform the look of many of the colors, BRG being one of them. Toying either trying to find a set at some point. Enjoy the open top motoring!

You can have mine! I'm not sure about the full blown KITT look! I'm wondering where the red led's go!

One of the characteristics of a phenomenally designed object, is its hard to have it look poorly by interchanging components. I believe this car is one of those. Maybe the blades look will grow on you. What wheels are your preference?

I'd prefer Bi-metal to lift it a little. I agree with your summary re design. I made a spontaneous F-Type purchase having seen a V8S in London two weeks ago. I was looking at Porche Boxter GTS previously. In fairness, the EU referendum played a part too- I'm not buying German anymore! Pathetic I know!

Bimetal does set off a car. Depends on the look you're after. I like the look of the Boxster, but the ftype is beautifully done from all angles. I'm holding off any upgrades or changes as it currently is stunning to look at.

Well...55% of your most recent purchase was German. Look at your window sticker.
