I imagine much greater than 186 is possible, since it tops out at 186 in 6th gear. And while 7th and 8th are both overdriven, you're likely to get something out of them if you removed the limiter. Likely the 186 limit is due to the tires, but i haven't researched that. The real question is how fast can you go before you run out of aero support?

Compare to the Aston Vanquish in all respects. The R AWD is quicker in every key area. Aston hits an ungoverned 201 mph. The R "would" too.

You can see it reaches a displayed 312 km/h (195mph) here, in a standard and still electronic restricted R (300km/h is aprox 186mph):

It does seem to be reaching it's limit though?

Earlier model Jags would sail right through the limiter, if you had "sport" mode selected and the gear selector not in drive.

I imagine it would be similar with the F-Type.

At Jaguar F-Type R Coupe lap times and specs - FastestLaps.com the rwd R is "rated" at 317 km/h (196.54 mph) and 0-62 mph in 3.8 sec (0-60mph in 3.4 sec and 0-100mph in 8.0 sec).

These results are supposed to be (the best) tested performance.

Highly doubt the limiter, seen too many videos of Jags going passed the 186. Not sure why any one would doubt that a car with 500+HP would not go that fast. I hit 300km/h (186Mph) in a 250hp 911 in the early 90s. Just a question of having enough room to keep the pedal floored.
