Quick response:
The Carlinklife team is really great. They spent a lot of time with me via WhatsApp.
I'm getting a new part with a longer cable.
They described the problem to me like this:
Your car is not suitable for this previous version, the new version kit is suitable for your car.
There is a conflict between the early version and the factory map, and it will have a black screen
Hello, The new module arrived today.
It's the module with only one antenna.
It also comes with a part that looks like a microphone.
Do I have to install it?
It's not listed in the description either.
I installed the new module today and it worked immediately.
I set the dip switch to "1" according to the instructions.
It's simply fantastic how this upgrades the vehicle a bit, I like it.
The only problem I have now is with the steering wheel controls
for forward and reverse.
But I read the interesting post here by KRAZY-K and will test the settings in the next few days.
I am very satisfied with the module and the service from Carlinklife.
Thanks also for the many helpful posts in this thread.
3. With the OEM set to Bluetooth, all of the steering wheel controls work!
Everything's working great with the settings, thanks.
If anyone has recommendations on what dip settings they recommend let me know! I've not heard anything back from customer support so far about the video blanking on overlay pop ups.
Yes. This has been previously documented. You lose the ability to custom setup dynamic mode. You are restricted to the factory defaults for Dynamic.
It’s not just this box. All the CarPlay upgrade boxes have this limitation. Several threads on this can be found if interested.
Is this still an issue? What is the factory default - everything turned on? I guess maybe not a deal breaker but i do have my dynamic mode customized with "regular" suspension.

Actually not correct . I have fully configurable dynamic mode options with UAD but then I dont have skip forward or back on the steering wheel. There is always going to be some compromises with a 3rd party splicing into a OEM system. I think it depends on where you splice into electronic chain as to what you gain and lose out on .

Same for ours, we have also have kept dynamic mode menu.
Yes I retained the dynamic mode menu as well as skip forward back etc. The only function lost was the original Nav as this is the input the Carplay box uses.
This thread has been immensely helpful. I went the aliexpress route and ordered this AUTOABC unit here ALIEXPRESS.
Took me about an hour to install and overall very impressed. Package looked just like this Kuhli's unit in post #105 and came with a mic.
- There are aux cables to connect in the center console. In the Headunit audio setting, I had to switch to using AUX to get sound from the carplay unit.
- The colors on the screen looked really washed out but turns out the display settings were adjusted to a very high brightness. turned it down and its fine.
- Track buttons for previous and next songs do not work but may need some fidling around with it.
-It came with 0 instructions but i followed the available ones on youtube to get it installed.
interestingly on this CarPlay retrofit kit I am able to access the dynamic setup page. I don’t know who this is useful for but I figured I share my experience. I changed several values and it works for me.
Bumping this old thread. Hi everyone, new to the forum. I’m wondering how the carlinklife 8” unit is holding up- any issues, complaints, updates to previous issues?
After reading this thread, it seems their newer 10.5” unit also has a few quirks- were those resolved?
Finally, do they still boot up as Jaguar (10.5”) and Land Rover for the 8”. Thanks!

I came across www.carlinklife.com and saw they had a unit that came to $296 shipped to Los Angeles from China after using a coupon code (MBWORLD) I found on the Mercedes forums. I AM NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE VENDOR!!
Its been about 2 months since I've installed the unit and its now its smack dab in the middle of summer in Southern California (105 degrees) and the unit has been working without issues.
PROS:
- The steering wheel mounted controls (track forward/back and volume work)
- Install took about an hour
- The additional EQ settings on the CarPlay module makes a world of difference in sound quality especially in Meridian mode
- OEM microphone retained
- Call quality improved
- Excellent value compared UAD, GTA units
NEUTRAL/CONS:
- I still haven't figured out the mirroring vs linking CarPlay option
- The directions on what settings the dip switches need to be are not correct and took me several tries to figure out the right combination
- When toggling to CarPlay from the OEM Jaguar Infotainment screen, it occasionally triggers Siri..not a big deal
- I wish the wiring harness was "reversed" so that the unit can put in the dead space between the seats behind the panel vs tucking it between the carpet and transmission tunnel

Haven't fired up the car since I parked it last fall, but as of when I parked it it was still working perfectly.
The one thing I would say is that they seem to have different versions of the unit. The first unit I received did not work properly but the second one retained all the original functions including volume and track changing from the steering wheel as well as the ability to access and change the Dynamic mode settings. One needed a ax plug and the unit I am using does not need the plug. I would email and verify the unit you will receive will retain those functions. I did that and when the first unit didn't not work correctly they sent me a new unit, I still have the old one (no idea why I have kept it LOL).
Your 2nd unit is the earlier/older model that retains the physical oem side buttons, most of the factory functions, no aux dongle, and loads with LR logo?
I was trying to identify the correct version with the seller and may just end up linking them this thread. Thanks for all your feedback.
Okay I just fired it up. It is the unit that loads with LandRover on the screen and the wifi comes up as Kmart , it does however have the AUX plug, I was mistaken. ( I do think this was the older versions, also my car is a MY 2016 but built in Nov 2015) I can also now confirm the unit does work with the new I-phone 17.
