Default 2016 Autoweek Jaguar F-Type AWD plus stick shift(!) first drive

They seem to prefer the rear wheel drive automatic to the AWD manual.

Do you mean they seemed to prefer the AWD automatic to the RWD manual?

They were waxing poetic and digressing all over the place so badly, I couldn't figure out what they really preferred.

"...but the decision to go manual should be based on cost, and not some quest for extra involvement."

From them this means they really didn't like the manual.

This section further supports that conclusion: "But there’s a stickiness when you pull or push the lever over the neutral threshold, and the throw could be shorter. It is not the most aesthetically pleasing thing to behold, either."

The automatic in this car is so good and so well tied into the other electronic bits this conclusion shouldn't be a surprise. The manual is an ok manual, the automatic is a wonderful automatic.

I agree that Autoweek review was one of the most incomprehensible I've read in awhile. It was like the writer was on a short-fuse, deadline, and the editor just tossed into the print bin without looking at it. After finishing it, my feeling was nothing about it was credible.
