Default Great F-Type Article on Jalopnik

Pretty awesome reflective article on the F-Type by Jalopnik. Seemed apropos considering some of the discussion here lately, too.

Default Dr visit last week

I visited my long time Doctor last week with some chest pains. After a exam including a EKG he said that I "tend to burn the candle at both ends" and the pain was most likely stress related as my heart is in excellent condition.

He is a car nut so I mentioned the new purchase of our F-Type Coupe R and as I was his last patient he wanted to see it. He told me the F-Type is on his wish list and it's the most beautiful car ever made.

I let him sit in the seat a bit and he grinned and said "my RX for your stress is at least 30 minutes a day in the Coupe"..

Thanks for posting this article, I couldn't agree more with the writers conclusions.
Nice change to having to slug through the whining and complaining around whats missing or should be different, its simply a great sports car in its own right... and the best looking.
Lawrence.

I can have a real crappy day at the office, and still come home with a smile after a 30 mile commute in the F-Type, regardless of how bad the traffic is.

If you've been around the forums and read my older posts, you'll know that I seriously did buy the F-Type for therapy. My wife passed and I had a heart attack last year. My doctor told me to lose the stress, so one thing I did was buy the F-Type. Every time I drive it, I relax, I smile, and I see other people smile at me. It makes me feel good, and gives me a sense of enjoyment again.

Be careful with the Stress. My doc tells me that's what caused my heart attack! (since you bought the F-Type though you're taking a preventative approach!)

Maybe I should try to send my invoice to my insurance company and see if they cover the "therapy" sessions...

Keep us posted on how you do with that. I know my doc would happily write a prescription for me.

Great article so thanks for sharing. As far as stress my F Type actually cause some for me instead of relieving it sometimes. For example this morning I had to ride through a construction area that had TONS of crap on the road and it was kicking up crap all over my car which made me just cringe. Then I get to work and there's no good parking spots available so I had to park in a questionable spot. If I had driven my other car(G35 coupe) I wouldn't have cared or stressed about any of it. Still absolutely love my F Type though. Its just so nice that I find myself worrying about it sometimes.

Whew! $120K is quite a bit away from my price point but I'm waiting till next year to get my hands on a pristine 2014 V8 S. If I had the money I would probably pull the trigger on a MY2016. I drove a fully loaded 2015 Corvette vert and a 2016 R vert on the same day last month and for me the R was the better car overall but not $40k better. Still, the R justs does something to your soul that no other car has been able to do to me. The damn car is just a special piece, period!

Jag offers some really favorable financing from time to time, and the dealers will discount cars by around $7,000. You might be able to afford what you want sooner than you think.

Nice article & thanks for sharing. I agree, it absolutely relieves my stress when I'm out for a drive. He has a lot of great points except where he states that the Corvette Stingray is a better car than the F-Type R in almost every way. That's bs.

The Vette is a better car on paper. And so is a GT-R. Fortunately I drive my F-type on....a road.....in...the real world.

Besides, I don't have any idea where my gold chains are anymore :P

Fuzzy dice are an acceptable replacement for gold chains.

Nice article. I totally agree, every time I drive I grin, that's got to be a good thing. Sometimes going through a tunnel I cackle out loud, so does my son.

I agree that too many cars now are trying to be too much that's why I love the F type, and in some ways why I like my V6S RWD vert even more. It is just trying to be fun and beautiful nothing else, it isn't trying to be a supercar, it isnt trying to be a family car it isn't trying to be an off roader it is t even trying to be practical, although it's not as impractical as some, just balanced, great sounding, fun and beautiful.
