Just wanted to share my first experience with the new for 2016 In Control Remote feature.
My dealer apologized to me and told me that I had the first 2016 and he wasn't up to speed on the new app, so I read the manual, googled, and figured it out.
After creating an account with Jaguar and synching up the car, the app is pretty neat. I can check the status of the car, doors locked or unlocked, windows up or down, amount of fuel in the tank, and I can roll up the windows and lock the car from anywhere as long as the car can get satellite signal.
The remote start works great, and I can set the target car interior temp from my phone, so I don't have to remember to set the temp before I shut the car off.
But, what I find the coolest feature is the data logging. (This can be turned off and on at will.)
Here is a snapshot of my last quick trip around the block and to the gas station.
You can see all the details of the trip. Pretty cool if you ever want to know where a spouse, son or daughter, valet, or anyone was with your car!!!
The data logging is pretty cool. I was actually at a Best Buy recently and saw an aftermarket OBD-II plugin that does this. Thought about getting it to capture trip details.
Does the car need to be started to adjust the climate controls?
The first time I tried to start the car from the phone, I was given a message stating the car had to be locked before I could start it... So, I used the phone, rolled up the windows, and locked the car. Then I started it. And turned it off again. There is a setting on the phone you set to what temperature you want the interior, and once started, the car will turn on AC or heat to get it to that temp. I can change the temp setting on my phone anytime.
I wonder if it's possible to add it to 2015 models
I don't think so. There are some extra buttons on the headliner by the edge of the windshield., along with some extra cellular or satellite equipment somewhere in the car. I wouldn't say it would be impossible, but just the change to the headliner, I'm going to guess Jaguar won't do it.
I'm afraid I can't see much practical use for all the other stuff you mentioned, unless you're vaguely OCD and need to keep checking to see you haven't forgotten anything.

The remote start will be awesome when I'm leaving work in the summer and it's 102 outside. I can remote start and set the AC for 72. Or the same in the winter with the heat.
I just might be OCD for the first few weeks I have the car though...
Can you use the SOS person to program your navigation like with On-Star and BMW Assist? i.e. you press the button, and then say - I need directions to Joe's barbecue in Atlanta, and then they send the address to your vehicle and set it as your destination.
So you can get going and not worry about crashing while programming your nav.
First step to be prosecuted based on the data logger .... now it is a cool app and in the future you will get speeding tickets issued automatically or better directly charged to your bank account veerytime you break the speed limit ...

Next step is a divorce when your wife sees where you have been. I heard tell that there have been a coupla divorces because of Tesla's data logging.
Correct. It has to be an automatic transmission for safety reasons.
it is indeed correct that it is not available with the 6 speed, but it could be implemented safely by incorporating a neutral interlock switch., not just a clutch interlock switch.
