Default another vote for Continentals

I bought my 2017 in 2020 with Pirellis and Michelins that were ready to be tossed. Read through all the tire posts and decided on the Cont DWS 06. They are coming up on 5 years and that is my standard for replacing any tire, regardless of 'apparent' condition. I have run Continentals on my 2013 Golf and was happy with those, so went with the DWS 06.
It's now 2025 and time for new F tires. Going with the DWS 06 Plus. My JLR dealer will price match and then provide free rotation/side swap and balance. The car is not babied, but it's not tracked either. I have to consider the range of temps here in North Central Wisconsin (-25 to 105 F) . While I don't take it out on messy, salty winter roads, I do drive it in the cold. I got caught in a massive summer downpour on a highway and those tires just held and held. Additionally the car is kept in the garage, away from UV light which is known to degrade rubber.
Whatever tire you go with, if you change size, make sure there's no contact when the car's under load. Also check the DOT code for manufacture. This is from a Goodyear site, but all tires are marked:

https://www.goodyear.com/en_US/learn...20your%20tires.

Last week bought new tires for the E type. Got a good price online, but vendor could not provide date of manufacture. I wasn't interested in getting 'old' tires, perhaps built late 2023. Checked with JLR dealer and yes, they could get them and date code was 11/24. SOLD!

As an aside, check the date code on the tire sealant bottle in the trunk. I replaced mine with the Unibottle from Amazon

Amazon Amazon

What's nice about this is that it fits the OE foam spot and it won't mess up the insides of the portable compressor. I also bought an F jack and a socket and long extension for the lug nuts. All fits in the trunk just fine. Just keep eating my Wheaties so I can lift those wheels :-)

Thanks, between the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 and the Pirelli P Zero A/S Plus 3, which one provides better driving feel?

Costco also sells Bridgestone and I could get the Potenza Sport A/S (best dry grip ratings on Tire Rack) or RE980AS+. I really can't tell what the difference would be.

+1 for Continental DWS06+. Best A/S performance tire I've ever run. When my OEM Pirellis wear out that's what I will be replacing them with, possibly up one width size as it will fit on the stock rim.

I upsized both of my 2015 and 2016 F-Type S' to 255/40-19 & 285/35-19 Conti DWS. A softer, quieter ride with softer turn-in than OEM Pirelli PZeros. Not so with the 20s on our 2018. Just as hard riding and noisy. as the Pirellis. However, the Conti DWS outshine the Pirelli PZeros by a bunch in inclement weather and the rears will last a good 20,000 miles on a RWD F-Type if you don't track them. Plus, unlike with summer tires, I get a full 3 seasons of use up here in sunny NH. The fronts will last forever on a RWD coupe. All four tires seem to wear about the same on our AWD coupe. I use Conti DWS tires on all of our sports cars, sports sedans, sedans, and SUVs.

DWS06 Plus- 20" 265/35/20 and 305/30/20 work great on oem wheels. Superb, and in 20" very precise. Lighter and quieter than Michelin and longer lasting. Highly recommended.

The key is the low sidewalls. They remain very strong (no risk of blow out afaik - have not read of anything in this dimension). Michelin has always been a stiffer tire - that has benefits and costs....on a 50 sidewall I'd likely go Michelin, but on a 35 or 30, the Continentals, for our cars, ride just as sharply and save almost 2-5lbs per corner at the outermost aspect of rotating weight...so faster/better handling too. The DWS06 was a little mushy and they addressed that in the "plus" version that has been out now for a long time - so you will find stories of mush in DWS06 such as the above xc60 that are true - that is no longer an issue.

The most surprising tire in our sizes is the Bridgestone...in the distant past I loved their tires but the way a LOT more than either the Michelins or the Continentals. Way more.

The only thing I find worrisome about the DWS06Plus is they'll have a very hard time improving on these - they are darned near perfect. Recently I got another set of 4 and if they come out with a new model it will likely put many current summer tires to shame even more than it already does.

One thing to note, tire size matters a lot, especially the sidewall. My absolute love of these tires is in the 20" size. I don't have experience in the 18 or 19 sizes on the F-type and they may not be wonderful - but in the 20's, I fully think they are the best current option if you want an all season that thinks it is a summer tire and that is not a HUMMMING nightmare like my last Mas4's were.

I went with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 (PSAS4) when I had this same conundrum in Western WA last year. I've found the PSAS4s to be quieter and only slightly less vague in steering feel to the OEM P-Zeros, and I'm very happy with them, as I've already been caught out in the rain or cold a few times and enjoyed not thinking twice about driving more carefully than usual.

At the time, the consensus was to go with either Michelin PSAS4s or the Continental DWS06+, and reports were that, of the two, the Michelins had better steering feel and the Continentals were lighter, but both are supposedly fantastic tires. See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...s4-pnw-280919/ for that discussion.

I bought mine from Costco and had them mounted/balanced there, but they did scuff the machined wheel lip with the tire machine (minor, but it did happen), so I may attempt to see if a dealer or more careful tire shop will price match the next time around to prevent any wheel damage.

I put the DWS 06 on my 2017 SVR to replace the summer sports it had on them. No loss of driving performance and feel.

Btw on that tire sealant bottle - you can get exactly the same one that comes with the car from a Ford dealer (online). Was a standard part for them too. It's not expensive - think I paid $25 to replace mine a few months ago. As the old one was years out of date!

I have the Pirellis on our Ghibli and they are good for the sedan. I like them better than the summers we had on our previous Ghibli. I have the 4S on the Jag with about 17k on them. they still have about 50% left. They are definitely harder but still handle well.

I've used all-season Bridgestones on two previous cars in three different versions. The most recent was the RE980AS Pole Position and I liked them. I even tried the RE960AS Pole Position at Sonoma Raceway in heavy rain in a car with AWD and a whopping 163 HP. In a 20 minute session I lapped the first two cars out, a 911 and Corvette, so was quite pleased with the tires. They did well in the dry also, but the lack of horsepower changed the relative speeds considerably.

I'm running the PS4S now and am really careful when the temperature drops below 40F and I need to go out. Here, that's not too often, especially with my dramatically foreshortened commute.

Default All Season Tires

I just swapped my P300 18" Continental Summers to a set of used Jaguar OEM 20" wheels and Falken 460 All Season tires. I live in Ohio and while we winter in Florida there is still Oct thru December with cold, rainy weather. I found the car with only 3200 miles on it and my plan is to sell the virtually new 18's to offset part of the cost. I have been the Summer only tire in winter before and its not pretty. Finding a set of OEM wheels on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace is the way to go. Overall a small cost to pay for the safety of not sliding around running into god knows what.
