2021 Jaguar F-Type R with Fuse 15 Pulled Exhaust - Video
My new to me 2021 Jaguar F-Type R got delivered to me today. It is a CPO car with 21k miles and under bumper to bumper warranty for 3 years.
I test drove it Saturday and was a bit disappointed in the lack of exhaust sound under 3500rpms.
Of course I had done my research and knew about Fuse 15.
So as soon as the car got delivered today, I pulled it in to the garage and removed Fuse 15 and went for a ride.
There we go, there is the sound I was looking for.
Is it as loud as my previous 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8S, no, not as raucous, but that is a good thing, no loud gunshots out of the exhaust, just smooth V8 sounds.
Here is a video of me driving it with the Fuse pulled.
I tend to agree with the idea that the gunshots and such of the older cars would be not agreeable with me over the longer term. As much as I appreciate the SVRs some of those things sound absolutely ridiculous to listen to…Not in a good way…It would get old for me…
The new cars with fuse 15 out is a really nice balance. You get a bit of random burble tune and popping here and there to keep things interesting but it’s not constant…which is good…Most of the time you just get that sweet v8 tone..

The gunshots were to a point of being embarrassing, it is not a sound a car should make.
The new car could definitely be a little bit louder, the old one definitely was louder, but it is still very audible.
I am sure once the weather warms up and with the top down it will be perfect.

Are you going to setup your fuse 15 pull business using the “Claws Out” way documented here on the forum? If not familiar just search. You can leave the fuse in place and set it up so that you can add and remove it at the press of a button without actually physically doing anything with the fuse.
I have it setup with the help the great folks on the forum here. I absolutely love it. Best of both worlds.

I am just going to leave the fuse out.
No reason to put it back in except maybe if I take it in for service.

So about that…One consideration is that rolling like that could lead to seizing of the valves. With Claws Out installed you could at least exercise them here and there when pulling the car out for a wash etc…Just a thought…Then when you go to the dealer you won’t be dealing with seized valves at that time etc…

Pulling Fuse 15 definitely brings back some of the fun that makes the F-Type exciting. It only takes a couple of minutes to pop the hood and pull the fuse, but I wanted a cleaner and easier way to do it.
After checking out a few options, I went with a simple wire bypass switch instead of a remote setup. It’s more stable, easier to install, and doesn’t need any extra power supply.
Install Notes:
Pretty straightforward overall.
The only tricky part is getting the wire through the firewall. The best spot I found is just below the fuse box.
By carefully removed the protective tape and fishing the wire through a small opening on the firewall. Once that’s done, the rest is simple.
I temporarily mounted the switch just below the dimmer switch so it’s easy to reach.
What It Does:
When the switch is OFF (fuse disconnected), the exhaust stays fully open. You start hearing more sound around 1500 RPM, and between 2500–4000 RPM, it gets louder with more pops and crackles.
The best part is the downshift from 3rd to 2nd—it gives off a loud “pop” (gunshot). It makes me smile every time (yeah, I know it’s a bit childish, but it’s fun).
When the switch is ON (fuse connected), everything works like stock. You can still use the sport exhaust button, but it’s much quieter than with the fuse off. Great for long drives when you want things more chill.
One Small Catch:
You can’t flip the switch while the engine is running. From what I understand, the exhaust flaps only fully open when the car is off. So you have to decide if you’re in a “nice” or “naughty” mood before hitting the start button.
Just wanted to share this with other 2021+ F-Type R owners. The switch cost me about $20 on Amazon, and the install just took a bit of patience. Totally worth it—it makes the car sound way better.

You can switch it while the engine is running, but only while it's at low idle and you're in park (or neutral). The valves will be closed if your active exhaust is off. Switch the active exhaust on at low idle and the valves will fully open. Then throw your switch to disable them in the open position. You can throw your switch to 'reinstall' the fuse at any time without consequence--the car will position them correctly based on the mapping.
Also, the electronic valves on the '21+ F-Types are binary--they are either open or they are closed. There is no partial opening. The electronic valves in the F-Pace do have variable opening settings.

Thank you Thunder Dump. Good to know, and I will give it a try.
Thanks again.
so, to be clear. I can pull fuse 15 out with the engine off. And on startup the valves will be open from then on? Or, I have to pull fuse 15 with the car running at idle and the console exhaust active switch turned on to make sure the valves are open before pulling 15?.
I've also read here you pull fuse 15 then take a broom stick and push the valves open, which sounds like it could damage the valve actuators.

Just pull fuse 15 with the engine off, nothing else to do.

This. The electronic valves open on ignition OFF so if you pull the fuse with the car off they will stay open until you reinsert the fuse. No other action is required.
Thanks guys. pulling the fuse before heading out to brunch. We shall see !!
Pro tip: keep one hand cupped under the edges of the fusebox exterior trim cover when you remove the thumbscrews on the side closest to the engine. You need to 'pop' out the screws from their holes and it is *very* easy to drop one down beside the engine and you'll never see it again unless you drop the bottom tray, which is a PITA. So just go slow and keep your other hand there so it doesn't fall down inside.
