2022 Jaguar F-Type Goes V-8 Only
Minus the warranty. What aspect of the warranty gets voided? All of it?
And any thoughts on this plan? Any good argument for just sticking with a P450 RWD and not tuning it?
Sounds very interesting but unfortunately I can't add any advice to what you are doing. You see I live in Australia and we can't drive over 80MPH on our highways. 35mph on main roads, 30,mph on suburban streets and 25mph past a school. So 200hp or 600hp would not make any difference unless we can get to a race track.
Unfortunately I have no experience at racing cars anymore, like you guys, but I envy guys like you who can buy a fast car and fully use it.

After owning an XJ, I was bummed to recently find I couldn’t replace it with a newer model. So I’ve directed my attention to the F-type. The Mrs and I test drove a 2019 SVR and I giggled like a kid. So now I’ve placed an order for a 2022 P450 AWD but… I can’t help but think I’m missing the better bargain than this already great deal: if I tune this beast, I understand I can achieve 600 hp. But on a RWD in steep and sometimes wet terrain, that kind of power in my relatively untrained hands seems stupid. So as much as the $10,000 USD premium for AWD seems criminal, I’m on the verge of updating my order so that I have a better equipped P450 to subsequently tune. At that point, with my already upgraded interior, I’m getting all the perks of the 2022 R for ~$20,000+ less.

Do you mind if I ask your location, as I have been informed by my local dealer that Jaguar is not building cars at this time so orders are not being accepted. My build has been put in the queue for when the ordering window opens, but they have no word from Jaguar when that will be.
Earlier this week I was speaking with the salesman at the dealership where I bought my car. He said that inventory on new F Types is almost non existent and a nationwide search of dealer inventory revealed mostly 4 cylinder base models on the dealer lots. He also mentioned that the 2022's would be V8 only and said they weren't even accepting orders for them yet but expected to be able to in August with a 90-120 day lead time before delivery.
I wonder if the dealers will be drastically discounting those 2021 4 cylinder cars soon. They will be a hard sell when the new base V8 models are available.

visited one dealer to look at F-Type today. As usual the sales person knew less than anybody on this forum and it was news to him 4 and 6 cyl discontinued for 2022.
Any idea when jag site will be updated for 2022 build?

It does not surprise me at all that the 4's and 6's have been discontinued. If I was going to buy a F Type I would definitely go for the 4cylinder 2ltr model. But then I am not crazy about power and speed that I can not use. I would not be surprised if they made the F Type with a V12 and and a V8....Then the V8 would not sell. The motor industry today listen very carefully to what people want and not what they need. It makes cars for dreamers and ego's but unfortunately many other interesting things about the automobile are being ignored. "Top Gear" took the practicality out of the automobile and turned it into ego and a entertainment piece of over engineered toy.
It's only them Yanks (and Canucks) that get nuffin but the V8 in a new F-Type, here in Oz we now have three choices - P300 (four potter), P380 (V6 and no more P340) and P575 (V8R and no P450).
I've been using the JaguarUSA site for a few weeks to play around with model year 2022 F-Type builds. I'm firm on my wish list except for color, and my dealer has put me in the queque for when orders are allowed. I have the full color printout of my most recent build on my desk as I type.
Regarding pricing, if it's anything like when I ordered my F Type R back in February, several dealers said that the order would be placed at full sticker price. Whatever dealer incentives were in place at the time of delivery would be applied then. The dealer had a copy of my build that I assembled on the Jaguar website and when the factory began accepting orders for the V8 models again he called me and had me come down and place a deposit.
As luck had it, the incentives in May when the car was delivered were either 0% financing or a $10,000 cash back rebate. I took the rebate.

I did not, but politely let it be known that I would not pay any over MSRP premium, nor would I pay MSRP. I've purchased multiple automobiles from this dealership and the salesman intimated that I would be taken care of.
Every automobile in their showroom has a $5k markup over MSRP at present, due I'm told to the computer chip and used car shortages.
Time will tell.
