Not any more so than any other component in gasoline. Benzene, on the other hand, is even higher octane, but extremely carcinogenic. Benzene limits in gasoline were regulated dramatically lower back in the early '90s.

The Torque curve on both printouts is a shape that suggests the ECU isn't limiting boost, but might be limiting throttle opening.

Or, there could just be a boost leak at the bypass valve...

On two different cars though?

Yep. If the butterfly valve can't seat properly on one due to a manufacturing fault, the chances are it affects lots of other cars....

Cambo, I've just been reading that the base V6 only gets 70% of full throttle, which might explain why the torque drops off faster above 5k RPM than on the S.

Where did you read this? This isn't the case.

Default 380hp? Well....

This will cause a stir...

380hp? Well....-photo536.jpg

The reduction in power from the V6S to the V6.

Same thing with the 5.0L; 470ps, 495ps, 510ps, 550ps, from an identical engine.

JLR aren't the only ones that do this, the supercharged Ford Coyote V8 "Miami" here in Oz is similar, throttled back to hit a number.

Cambo,

That chart certainly is consistent with what I said in post #5 above w/ regard to my base car.
