3G being discontinued, 4G module upgrade?
I don't think anyone knows for certain what in our cars is going to stop working when the 3G networks shutdown. The AT&T 3G network is scheduled to shutdown in February. Hoping for the best, but planning for the worst I did an In-Control update and a map update this morning just to be on the safe side.

"JLR is currently finalizing a solution that will allow the affected vehicles (to) maintain the E-Call, B-Call, Stolen Vehicle Tracking, and Remote functions..."
If someone came up with a simple gadget that converted 3g to 4g or even 5g trivially....there would be a lot of customers (we are not alone, so someone will figure out a solution soon):Found this list.... The missed JLR.

Er, see post #56 above ....
Where is the 120V AC outlet in our Fs, that the Cellbounce device needs for power?
The specs say that the power cord is only 6 feet long...

The specs say that the power cord is only 6 feet long...

However, if they've got the technology, and can see an in-car market waiting ....
Looks like it’s 12 volts so no need for an inverter.
We do know, because Jaguar knows:

Nice Catch! I didn't notice that when I originally found that site. Should be interesting to see what they come up with. Also of note, "CellBounce 3G-to-4G radio conversion solution certified for use on AT&T network" Which is a plus since we know we're using AT&T already!

I wouldn't depend on the dealerships to help. After receiving my 2017 S, two local dealers were unable to assist me in updating my GPS. Jaguar's entertainment and navigation systems were poorly conceived. There is no uniformity, and the owner was clearly not taken into account during the design process.

It took me literally months to get my nav updated. Finally, Bobby Rahal found the update to install and gave me a brake on the price ($165) . A&L wanted to charge me over $200 for the update (which is a typical nav update cost) IN ADDITION to $250 for labor. Rahal at least didn't charge for the labor, but I had to destroy an entire half day waiting around their lounge.
A good high school student could have done a better job on the Jag software integration. Very disappointing.
Well if you read the 6 foot cord you "must" have also seen the 120v or 12v DC... ohh wait let me guess your car doesn't have 12v DC also?
The comment you're responding to is nearly two years old..
There is a very simple way for you to upgrade to 4K or even 5k and you don’t have to involve your dealer ( why even get them involved?) go buy a 4 or 5G hub and keep it in your car. That’s what we did on a first gen F-Pace. I bought the hub before we even picked the car up from the dealer back in 2016. Set the car up to connect to the hub and you’re golden!
Does the remote start from your cellphone still works? I am unsure if the car will still allow me to use the In control touch pro apps through a wifi connection instead of the 3G. Have you tried this?
I have a 2017 XE, also with the 3G module
I wouldn't count on any help from the dealerships. After getting my 2017 S, two dealers in my area were of no help in getting my navigation updated. Jaguar infotainment and navigation systems were designed extremely poorly. There is no level of standardization, and the owner was obviously not a consideration of their design process.
I had my telematics module updated to the 4G version from my JLR dealer back in January under warranty (I have a 2018 FT-R). All was well until I needed a battery replacement a few weeks ago. After the battery was replaced my remote functions for InControl stopped working. The dealer then had to order another module (not sure which one), but eventually got all the InControl functions working as they should.
The solutions are available if you are working with a competent service department….. and a generous tip to your service writer on every visit seems to always get me a loaner car, great service and results, as well as a nice wash and detail on my car upon pickup 👍

This is an old thread, but I'm hoping people have better solutions that my dealer gave me. My 2017 F-type R stopped reporting my location information around February 2025. The dealership said it was because of the 3G network shut down (I live in Florida, USA). They checked with the engineering team and tried to do a software update, but it had no effect (of course) and they recommended the software disabled the module so it wouldn't accidently shut down the ignition system (apparently that happened to a few customers). Has anyone had any success with upgrading the TCM to 4G? I'm really disappointed that Jaguar would leave their customers in the lurch.
