Active exhaust vacuum fault?
Good day Ladies and Gents,
I recently encountered a problem with my F-Type.
i have the S model with the active exhaust and every time I reach about 1000 revs, I can hear some noise coming from the rear driver side (LHD), probably the vacuum pump is running. It does not matter it the exhaust is open or closed, I can hear the pump running for 3-4 seconds each time I hit at least 1000 revs.
I attached a video recording.
what do you think the issue might be?
kind regards,
Kamil

This is normal operation. The active exhaust vacuum pump is located near the left rear wheel, and mine has always sounded like a loose heat shield. Jag eventually deleted the vacuum pump and ran a vacuum line back from the engine. Even later, they switched to electric exhaust valves.
Around idle, the valves flutter open and closed, requiring the pump to switch on and off.

Thank you very much! In stop-and-go city traffic when the engine goes from idle to 1-2k revs and back to idle a few times per minute the pump starts and stops even a few times per minute. I was sure that it is an issue with a loss of vacuum somewhere in the system.
@DJS , what a beauty you've got there! Same spec as mine, 2014 Salsa Red Roadster V6S! Mine has 140k miles though!

Nice. I’m around 94k miles. I installed a relay that defeats the F43 fuse which powers the vacuum pump. Removing F43 (under the passenger footwell) leaves the valves open 100% of the time, which is pretty impressive.
