Prior to owning the Jaguar , I had owned a couple 911's. Bought the Jaguar without ever test driving-love the car. All I could say when I bought it was they are just 2 cars are entirely different. I love my Jaguar and now I added a Cayman S to the stable. Its so nice to have a flat 6 back in the mix. Such different driving experience between the two. I simply cannot bring myself to electric cars. Maybe that is the same as the supercharged V8 and the flat 6, but something about the motor and maybe growing up in my era-cant see ever buying an EV.
Congrats on the new car. Looks like you’ll have to update that signature ;-0
Yeah, I could probably get along with the idea of a hybrid, but I too am having a hard time getting excited about full-on EVs. I suppose eventually there may be no choice, but at this point I am not as certain about that. There was a time when EVs seemed inevitable. The EV movement seems to be dying off quite a bit. I think in the end they will be part of a mix of choices.
Long live ICE. If that makes me a dinosaur so be it ;-0

We purchased a 2023 Volvo C40 full EV in December of 2023 and have been using it as our daily driver. Last December I got the itch and picked up a 2016 F-Type convertible which has been my fun car to drive around this spring. So now I have a large quiet Swede and a very loud Brit in my garage!
The irony is, that the Volvo is a twin motor EV weighing 6,000 lb and has acceleration of 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds. My F-Type is a 3 liter and is slower at 5.1 seconds, go figure...

Crazy with electric cars and their acceleration. I would get so many people in Tesla's wanting to race me in the Jaguar and I have no desire. I don't think I will ever get away from ICE in my lifetime. Just not my thing and sadly I know they are fast.
My Porsche is such a differenr car; besides the obvious coupe vs sedan. The Porsche is a beautifully driving car; best I've ever driven- precise in all faucets. With Dynamic chassis control and rear wheel steering iti can take 90 degree turns at high speed at it is flat and online. I do have a moment of surprise when I get the SVR out of storage as I forget how much better it drives the same route as the Pany over the R I had previously. A great set of vehicles to have but if I ever had to sell one of them it would be the Pany although I love the car and not sure what I could daily drive after having the Pany. I often think if JLR and but even half of the discounts on retail most dealers gave back, F types would hold value and most sought after.

For me, the other bonus for owning an EV other than not having the pump petrol is virtually no engine maintenance, no oil filter changes no transmission or differential maintenance, etc. Although the f-type requires all the traditional maintenance, having it available to scream down the road and enjoy more traditional driving as well worth it.
Sorry ICE lovers, going to laugh at you but in jest. I remember back in the 70's when imports started showing up, everybody always said they would never buy one and now those same people brag about their Lexus, Jag, etc...
Moral of the story is, never say NEVER, as it will bite you in the end.

Totally agree. I’ve got a Tesla that I use to get me to and from work (19 miles each way) and it’s comfortable and quick. I chill while listening to my podcasts and it’s got the power to easily out accelerate most cars to weave in ands out during rush hour. Best thing is that it costs me $1.50 in electricity a day versus $6 in gas. I do wish I had gotten a different EV instead of the Tesla due to styling but we do use it for road trips so charging network was a big deal. You can’t beat an EV for a daily commuter car.
When it’s nice out, I take the Jag with all its wonderful pops and bangs. And then there’s the Tail of the Dragon and the wonderful group of FType enthusiasts I see yearly.
We are fortunate to have both IC and EV vehicles…if/when the Slate comes out, I’d wait a few years to see how that does but would love a cheap little EV pick up for in town use with the ability to get plywood from the lumber yard.

Some days I think it might be nice to have a convertible, but the shape of these F-Types in coupe form is just too beautiful. I couldn't do it. I'll have to do what you did and get a separate car to scratch my convertible itch ;-0

Your comment pretty much sums it up. To each his own, but I've always thought the F Type looks better in a coupe and the 911 looks great as a cab. I've had convertibles my entire driving life and really missed not having one. The C4 is lighter and more zippy but the F Type (that doesn't weigh that much more) with the stage 3 tune is significantly faster.

Funny, I always had the exact same thoughts about 911s looking best in convertible. They look good in both, but particularly in convertible for me…

I am not fans of convertibles. I have had a few over the years, my favorite being a C5 Vette Convertible. In a 911 it goes for $8-10 less than a coup in the used market. I just saw one locally before I bought mine-great deal and triple black 911 and was tempting but just couldn't.
I've always thought all the Jags look better as coupes, but I'm a vert guy! I'd say 90% of my cars have been cabs. I agree that 911's look better as cabs.
