Adding Active Exhaust Button

Adding Active Exhaust Button
Hi Everyone, so I opened up the console and replaced the Traction-only button on my 2018 with the Traction+Active Exhaust button. My car has the active exhaust but did not have the button. Cost $40 from Jaguar Dealer for the part and about 2 hours of [careful] unclipping and unbolting stuff to get the shifter mechanism and housing loose. Now I've done it, i could probably do it again in under an hour.
All the wiring seems to be there for a direct swap, but it does not work. The Traction side still works and there are more wires than needed in the plug for that switch than to just power up the traction-only button so I assumed it would be an easy swap - but alas, the Exhaust button does not activate. Is there some reprogramming that needs to be done to get the control unit to recognize the button that I need the dealer to now do?
Regardless, aesthetically it looks better than the single Traction button and the chances of me actually using it are slim (and Dynamic mode activates the exhaust anyway)... but if I can make it work, even better...
(old button shown below next to new install)

Yes, the SDD diagnostic tool would need to enable that, and it's unlikely you'll get a dealer to do it.
I have active exhaust without the switch too. My valves started getting squeaky, and the vacuum pump is noisy, so I installed a wireless switch that effectively connects or disconnects fuse F43, so it's either active exhaust controlled by dynamic mode, or I can push a button and leave the valves open the whole time. Works great, though the install took a bit of fiddling to find a good ground.

I've inquired at two different dealerships and was told by both that the switchable active exhausts could not be retrofitted. I hold out hope that the OP comes up with a solution.
I continue to wonder why no one has come up with a way to hack the ECU for this and other purposes, like changing spoiler raising and lowering speeds and activating dual temperature zones.

The active exhaust button doesn't work unless the Car Configuration File (CCF) is altered to have that functionality enabled.
A dealer cannot do this for you, we have done it in a couple of 2014 & 2016 models, but it's not the same process for a 2018.
The 2018MY-onward F-Types are not supported by the SDD diagnostic tool, these are only supported by the new Pathfinder tool, with DoIP interface.
There is no CCF editing function in the Pathfinder software either, although we have found a way around the problem, it is not as easy/simple as with the older models.
I don't know anyone in the US outside of the dealers who has Pathfinder/DoIP.
So I'm afraid for now there's nothing that can be done to get the button working in your 2018 model at a reasonable cost.

do you think the physical button swap and ccf mod would work on my car?

I also have 2016, i bought wireless remote and installed in fuse43, nothing happend. When i just remove f43 i
imagining that i hear more noise, but it is hard to tell. Somone erlier in another therd stated that 2016 dont have "vacum..."
Im starting to think that i just will haft to modify the exhaust

So i read the shop manual and discovered another fuse which also says active exhaust.
it's fuse F15 in the left side engine bay fuse box (it's a brown fuse)
when I pulled this (and f43 was still out) the valves stayed open. you could try this and potentially attach the wireless switch there.

Thanks for this!
- I pulled fuse 15, no changes
- I connected the remote to fuse 15 (different ways), no click what so ever.
I still could pull fuse 15 in engine box, then connect remote to fuse 43, (Will try this tomorrow, but o donīt think it will work)
I really cant believe how hard it is to crack jags!
