I am thinking of changing my 1st-generation XKR for a 2-3 year old 5.0 model. I drove a 2013 car a few months back and it had an extra-loud exhaust button beneath the gear stick, which produced a fabulous noise.

Can someone please confirm whether these buttons/loud exhausts are standard on ALL 5 litre XKRs, or are they an option?

it may pertains to model after november 2011, with the change of air vents, you see? mine a 2010 does not.

 

Mine doesn't have a button specifically for opening the exhaust valves, but there is the Dynamic Mode button.

Dynamic mode opens the exhaust valves, tightens the suspension, and changes the shift points of the transmission. The exhaust does sound more "throaty" in Dynamic Mode, and there is even better application of power.

So maybe that is the "button" you are referring to...

 

It may have been the dynamic button, but I can't be sure. It was back last October, but if I recall correctly, it was the checkered flag button that I pressed and held down to get the extra noise.

 

Yes, that button is for "Dynamic Mode"...

And it changes more than just exhaust note...as I mentioned earlier
