Default Additional key fob's

Just making sure before I bite the bullet and go to the dealership.
There is no way to add additional keyfobs without replacing the KVM module through the dealer correct?
Can a locksmith clone the transponder on these?
Program through SDD?
Or am I stuck with the dealer and $800 for one extra key?

I know others have had dealers willing to reprogram JLR FOB's, but some have had issues with after-markets. Due to a change in the FOB's, early years are a bit easier to copy than than later years. (I'm on the early side and forgot exactly when the change was made.) There are some "non dealer" key programming tools which would be able to add an extra key, you just need to call around to find someone who has that tool. Also, remember that copying the program is separate from cutting the emergency key inside.

That said, I'm (slightly) surprised that dealers are still being so restrictive - since +/- half of them are now out of the sales business and only providing service. You'd think they'd be looking for ways to add service business and not worried about impacting sales.

As a side note, clicking on "Search This Forum" and typing in "program FOB" will get you a dozen or so hits. I'm sure what I wrote is in there somewhere.

Thanks,
Didn't see anything in searches beyond what I had mentioned above which is why I asked. Earlier ones yes you can clone or add. There was a change I believe sometime around 15 or 16 YM where the dealer has to replace the KVM from my research as it is read only, and the key fob has to be new unprogrammed or programmed to existing car to work.
I couldn't find anything about adding a cloned key in this scenario.
Have a local locksmith with cloning capabilities and plan to call them Monday.

My best locksmith won't touch them.
I went to the dealer and for 1 new key and fob + reprogramming it came out to about 800
550 for the key and fob
250 for the programming charge.
6 weeks to get a key fob for some reason...
I think I am going to order some amazon fob's with key blanks and see if they will just reprogram those first.
