Yo, Lance.

References to Bank-1 and Bank-2 are made with regard to the
engine. When viewed from the flywheel the right-hand bank will be
Bank-1 and the left-hand bank will be Bank-2.

Cheers

Thanks. You confirmed my expectation. I didn't want to replace the wrong O2 sensor. (Check twice, cut once) The code reader pointed to Bank 2 sensor 3. (rear most). Is it possible to erase a permanent code without a proprietary dealer tool?
My cheapo parts store reader was able to erase all the 6+ temporary codes, each pointing to the same sensor.

I haven't (yet) had an O2 issue, so I'm not sure I can help with that part. What's the permanent code? I know there are some that even the factory tool won't clear, but I'd expect anything O2-related would be minor, unless there's some EPA requirement. I assume you've tried the obvious (disconnecting battery).

Many O2 sensors are warranted for up to 15 years depending on model and year. Document attached.

Two permanent codes: P0162 and P0061, both related to a bad Bank 2 O2 Sensor 3 failure. Researching further, these "permanent" codes should clear after number of uneventful cycles on their own, but they can't be cleared with the code reader.

Thank you. This will save me a couple hundred bucks for the part. (Plus, I don't have to climb under the car.)

The vacuum pump used for the brakes is on the engine, driven by the fuel pump cam. It's down on the bottom right front corner of the engine, next to the crank pulley. It has a single plastic line coming off it and running up the right side of the engine. Held on by 2 bolts.
