Anyone have any experience with or knowledge about this chip tune? (RaceChip.us). Bought some wheels from a guy who spoke highly of it. He had it on 2 previous f types and currently on his new M5. Said it could easily be removed and put back to stock in minutes.

I had a RaceChip Pro 2 on my old XFS and it was great.
But that was a diesel not a petrol.
It plugged into the end of the fuel rail which was a little difficult to do.
I believe the RaceChip for the V8 and V6 F-Type plugs into the ECU, ie it's a normal "piggy back" ECU tuning chip.
If that is true it is most definitely NOT a quick or easy job to install or remove as the ECU is a bit of a PITA to get at.

Yeah. I just noticed on the RaceChip site it states that installation is difficult for the f type r. Thanks for the feedback.
So a flash tune could be removed easily and not leave evidence of a mod? My car is new and don’t want to void the warranty.
This has been discussed at length on the F-Type forum especially as regards VAP tunes.
With at least the VAP tune and I guess most other flash tunes it's a piece of cake to reflash the stock tune back on BUT once you apply a flash tune a code is set in the ECU for "non-OEM calibration" and that code cannot be removed even after you flash the stock tune back on.
A JLR dealership may or may not see that code, and even if they do see it they usually do not make a fuss about it.
But if you have an engine or engine related problem and you want to make a warranty claim to fix it you will be in trouble.
If you have a non-engine related warranty claim you should be OK but the dealership and/or JLR corporate could play hard ball because of the code.

Thats what I surmised from reading some of the previous threads. So sounds like even though the RaceChip might be a more difficult install it may be safer from a warranty perspective.

It looks easy going by the photos they sent me lol Planing on fitting it soon , Shall update my findings off it . Here are the photos they sent me , Some are for the xkr engine and others are of the f type engine
I am aware of that plug at the rear of engine now after doing the supercharger oil change so installing it will be easy lol
I had a better look at this later today . Not good to get at in the xkr . The sensor plug with red logo on it is right behind that PITA of plastic cable housing And it wont move Their is a bolt holding it to rear of engine block that will be difficult to remove in this area , But will try in a couple of days or so
It's very easy to install, you wave two Y split cables. One plugs into the map sensor on on end and the original connector for the map on the other end. The other cable connects to the bypass valve solenoid and the other end to the original solenoid connector. You need pretty small hands to get to the MAP sensor connector... You will want to notch the plastic box where the cabin air filter is and install the module in there. I will upload the detailed direction and post a link shortly.
Please note, their official manual is slightly incorrect. The picture of the MAP sensor install (rear of the engine, near the firewall) is correct. The other connector does NOT go where you see circled, but on the solenoid next to is (round body). The connector will only fit there anyway.. Good luck on the install.
Fitted it this afternoon , The sensor plug at the back of the engine in the xkr is "again " under that plastic cable cover a right PITA to get it out and back in . Had to remove a fairly large 8mm bolt that was holding sensor to back of the engine block (see photos ) sensor is in red label on it , Had to remove the sensor to get to it ,Un clipped and re clipped the race chip attachment then had to get it back in place and re bolt took a while . You f type guys are lucky yours looks easier by far
Local mapping place had wanted £800 or nearly a $1000 to do a map . I bought this from race chip for £345 . just over $400 . have took the car for a very short run in the factory settings map 4 And have no warning lights on dash so all good . But early days to tell if it is any good as we currently have a monsoon season in the UK will update thread in a few weeks
I intend to eventually purchase the full VAP treatment, however I still have 2+ years of warranty left, and given my early experiences I'd rather not leave anything to chance if I can help it.
This option may have the potential to be a nice (relatively low-risk) hors d'oeuvre.

Would be very east to do on the F type a 5min job to install . Will test thoroughly i next week or so and report back . Forgot to add Race chip states that this RS version gives an extra 60bhp we shall see

We should be aware that a 40-60 BHP increase whether by a remap on the ECU or by These plug in chips will not turn our car into a fire breathing monster Lol , But owners of Diesel cars Have noticed a difference in torque .
