Any information on the 2019 F-Type?
#162
Good Morning,
Overview
10/30/2017 I gave my dealer a deposit for a 2018 F-Type coupe.
11/30/2017 I had emailed a question to him. He replied that Jaguar was no long making 2018's and were, instead, making 2019's. But he was not able to access the Jaguar ordering system to change my order to a 2019.
03/02/2018 my dealer FINALLY was able to submit an order for a 2019 F-Type coupe.
05/2/2018 Status.
From my dealer:
Regarding "waiting for clearance from customs", see:

Patiently waiting for our car,
Bill

HI Mike, required approvals are referring to DOT or can you be more specific, I have no idea what you are referring to, my delivery date is 7/11 so I guess I'm outside this window and am still looking good, but would be interested more in what you mean by not all required approvals.
Thanks again for all the fantastic info also!

Hi KarimEls,
MarineJagMike may be able to provide more information.
A week ago I received the following from my dealer who apparently had a conversation with her Jaguar rep. I think the following is from that Jaguar Rep:

As per conversation I followed up with HQ. We cannot release these vehicles to you until we receive full sign off on the 19MY product. Full sign off includes:Government compliance , regulatory, legal, and multiple other departments within JLR. Unfortunately we can't speed up the governmental and regulatory aspects of the approval process. They expect the release to be sometime in June / July with standard programs.
Please let your customers know that there are regulatory certifications that need to be satisfied before the vehicle is deemed saleable. This is a normal process that occurs at the changeover for every model year so the customer has no reason to worry that the vehicle is being held arbitrarily, or because of an issue/defect. I will be more than happy to reach out to them and am sensitive to their situation.

I received the following from my dealer yesterday:
The dealership is supposedly expecting three F-Types: mine, a friend's and one for their lot.

Our F-Type Is In Our Garage
Good Morning,
I picked up our 2019 British Racing Green F-Type 2.0 Liter Coupe yesterday. It sat in the driveway to surprise my wife when she came home from work.
This is a brief timeline for this adventure ... nothing for Jaguar Land Rover to brag about:
10/30/2017 I gave my dealer a deposit for a 2018 F-Type coupe.
11/30/2017 I had emailed a question to him. He replied that Jaguar was no long making 2018's and were, instead, making 2019's. But he was not able to access the Jaguar ordering system to change my order to a 2019.
03/02/2018 my dealer FINALLY was able to submit an order for a 2019 F-Type coupe.
04/11/2018 F-Type is built and due to arrive at the dealer on 5/18/2018. ! this is a month off from the actual date !
05/2/2018 car is in the port of Baltimore, USA
06/13/2018 no longer being held at the Baltimore port, meaning it is allowed to be loaded onto a truck, estimated arrival at dealer on 6/23/2018
What is interesting is my dealer had 3 cars coming, mine, one for a friend and one for their stock. My friends car arrived on 6/21, mine on 6/22 and the one for stock has not arrived yet.
I got the impression from a brief chat with the sales manager that Jaguar has sent cars to the USA where they wait in the port for Jaguar Dealers to want them. The picture I see is you can walk into a dealer and see what is available at the dealer, maybe that dealer will tell you what is at other dealers and maybe also tell you what is sitting at the port. I don't know how many are F-Types and whether they are 2018's or 2019's.
Thanks for listening and for your comments.

It is very nice looking. Your eight month saga has been quite informative. I’ve learned that at least with a CPO you actually get delivery then and there. JLR must up its game. I would never be able to wait 8 months for a car. Life is too short. My Benz was 8 weeks from order to delivery.

Sorry to say but they cannot order 2018's. They can locate a 2018 but production has ended. In fact, there are no more allocations coming out for 2019 F-Types, the next order call will be for 19.5MY and is expected to be in April for production in June, delivery around September.
Just wanted to say thank you for all the great info, all the time!

@ Uncle Fishbits.
Some of the features I already had before the updates, like the ETA updates linked to the satnav. What I don't get is - I now have the WiFi hotspot also - ,
or if the OTA only works for updates on the infotainment, or does it also doe the map updates ? My car still tells me to go and get a USB stick..
