any way to disable spoiler on ftype?
Hello, I read in another post on this forum that the spoiler can block some rear visibility. I've heard others state that the spoiler looks a bit awkward. So is there a way for me to disable the spoiler from being deployed? I'm assuming the spoiler gives a very slight performance enhancement and disabling its deployment will not impact the safety of the car?

It looks lousy when deployed.

I would prefer if it lifted at a higher speed than it currently does... on my R it raises up around 120KM. an hour and lowers around 80KM.. next time I'm out I'll try to hit the 'spoiler' button on the console when its up to see if it will bring it down at speed, but I assume it likely won't as I think the button is only for raising it for cleaning etc..
So, if I could get the speed limit raised for deployment to around 135KM or more, it would be much better as the way it is now its going up all the time when I'm passing etc.. If on the track it would no doubt need to be set at factory speck.

Subtle difference but it does not add downforce at all. It reduces lift...not really the same as adding downforce. Just cancels lift generated in the rear so the car is not at all aerodynamically positive (meaning got downforce).
Straight from the Jaguar site: "A deployable rear spoiler rises at higher speeds to reduce lift by up to 120kg. "

70 & 50 on the Coupe...and when I was test driving a coupe,I noticed it took up a rather large portion of a pretty small rear window but like all things in life...I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Well, other than the idea that I can't take much advantage of deployment other than track days, I found another reason I'd like to keep that bad boy down. Paint chips.
I had just raised the spoiler for cleaning/polishing before hitting the freeway for a short run. Found the chip right afterwards, on the top of the spoiler lip, as I circled around the rear of the car to go inside my house. I thought, "Man, how the heck did that get there? It wasn't there a few minutes ago." (Admission: **** detailing-type here who misses little.)
Seems the air flow could direct pebbles (hesitate to say rocks) into the top of the spoiler at speed. I'm in the process of confirming this--don't know for fact.
I'm going to straddle a shot of Venture Shield over the lip. We'll see...

Porsches have had deployable rear spoilers for years,I think it's cool driving by them on the freeway seeing their spoilers in the up position...

Can't believe the lengths people are willing to go to find things to nitpick about this car. What's next...
Suppose someone other than me is bent over the fact the Hood Louvers don't match the Side Power Vents - unless you pay hundreds of dollars for a Black Pack, or hundred of dollars for the Chrome Hood Louver as an accessory.
