Thumbs down Anyone else dislike the heated windshield lines?

Just noticed these a couple of weeks ago. Now that I've noticed them, I've gotten OCD about seeing them. Being in Florida I doubt I'll ever need them.

I got a loaner with that installed. Like you said once you see it you can always see it. It gave me a headache. I was glad I didn't get that option.

The heated windshield is great around here.. I just look past the lines and they are not noticeable from my point of view.

~ Range Rover has had these for years in the front windscreen... I guess you just get use to them in time or overlook them.

I have tentatively ordered the windshield heater, but have wondered what's the point if the HVAC system has a defroster setting? Comments, please.

The windshield heater is much faster.

This is one of the best features of a Jag / Range Rover in the north, I can't understand how other companies haven't gotten around to this. Instantly removed fog and forget scraping ice!

I have a heated windshield on my Range Rover. LOVE IT! Best thing since sliced bread when winter in Canada. I do not notice it and it does not bother me. I love it as do my friends.

I did not get it on my summer F-Type. It won't be out if it's below 7C. Waste of $ on a summer car.

Quickclear/Instaclear has been around for years, but it's never been popular here in the States. I've never had it on any of my cars. Like Enfield, my F-type is a summer car, so no need for it.

What reasoning did the SM use to discourage you?

When I first inquired about it while ordering my car,he told me I wouldn't like the look of the lines and that I'd never get past them.
He told me a client insisted on ordering his car with the heated windshield even though he tried to talk him out of it...guy ended up trading it a few months later.

He told me he tries to talk everyone out of it specifically because of the element lines...

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just replace the windshield?

The Ford I've been driving this week has the same. Useful, as being a Rental it had no ice scraper...

Saw it on a car today and although you can barely see the lines (must focus on the windscreen itself), you will be looking through them. They remind me a bit of a dirty windscreen on the inside...

I'll probably get it for the $350.

My wife has this option on her XJL. I don't care for it although I must say that overtime the lines are less bothersome. Actually asked the dealer about swapping her's out for a windshield without. He was unsure of the price.

I ordered my R with just about every single option BUT the heated windshield.

I hear you. I might change my mind and not get it. I fear it'll start to bug me like others have said.

Fantastic option, obviously not if you live in California or similar I guess...lol

Really useful for winter, snow and ice are gone very quickly.

As for seeing it and getting headaches etc, or not being able to see past them etc?

Just my opinion, but why would anyone be concentrating on the windscreen?
Yes, if you look directly AT the windscreen and look for the lines, you will see them.

Surely though, when driving you will be looking THROUGH and way BEYOND the windscreen , probably not at the car in front of you, but the car perhaps 4 or 5 ahead, I know I do.
