It may be more needed w/ the V8s and the quad exhaust. Just way too much chrome back there.

The JAGUAR letters under the leaper are the most unattractive imo. They are not even attached well and the spoiler looks ridiculous that busy. Again, just personal taste.

It took some patience getting the adhesive off under the letters and some elbow grease with some mild polish. 99% iso alcohol worked better than Goo Gone sticker remover.

Steve,

How can it be a 'V6S' and an 'R'....? I clearly need to go back to Jaguar model school... Did you, by any chance mean V8S?

Awhile back, Jaguar let a number of cars leave the factory with the incorrect badges on the rear. There were several V6 S models in the market with AWD R badges on them. I noticed this while looking at various cars on Car Gurus.

You forgot to ask how a 6MT can be AWD. Also, it was an S coming towards you and an R going away. Confusing, no?

After some trial and error I will save the next de-badger some grief.

Buy this wheel, watch a couple of videos and you are set.

An eraser wheel is soft enough not to harm your clearcoat or paint. These are what a bodyshop would use and saves you a lot of elbow grease.

Personally I would remove everything i could with a plastic razor first before using the wheel.

Is it necessary to remove the R symbol from the front grill, that the whole bumper is removed?

Around here it is the opposite way. See an AMG badge on a C230 with the "0" pried off...

Exactly this. It might be different in Europe, with the strong cultural push to fit in and not show off, but my experience in the states is fairly different. Here, de-badging is generally mostly done by people who buy the lowest-end model/trim and then take off the badges hoping they can pass it off as something better. I can't tell you how many 325is I see with no badges or with a poorly adhered "M" badge. My favorite was following a 2-series with an M5 badge on the back on the highway. I really have to wonder why they do it - a car person will immediately be able to tell that the badge is wrong (just like on our cars - the difference between a base/S and R/SVR is obvious), and a non-car person isn't going to care about the difference between an M and a non-M BMW anyway.

Default Debadging

Fully agree...I had a friend who bought a MBZ and tried to pass it off as a higher model with all the badges removed - sorry, any car guy can tell the difference between a 6 cyl and an 8 cyl!! I dont understand the need to do this - I bought a Jaguar because I like what the car stands for, among other attributes, and I really dont care that I have a base car in Premium form! No need for me to add stickers or badges that are inaccurate!

I left the S badges on for reasons discussed. Debadged everything else (except the leaders) because it detracted from the appearance.

This isn't an f-Type but I friend took this photo with me and shared it . That guy is doing the opposite of what you all are trying to do in a major way.

Funny I went the Plasticoat route on the leaper and followed all the guidelines.

Looked great for a week or two and now is peeling right off.

So I guess I'll live with a chrome leaper until I get around to painting a replacement like others on here have done.

I seriously couldn't believe my eyes a few minutes ago. I put a lot of time into that, oh well.

Default De-badge leaper

I bought a black leaper from china, it just arrived today is not 100% exactly as the as the OEM but you will need to compare them side by side to see the differences.

i know removing the original will leave 2 or 3 holes. The black replica I bought does not have the “pimples” that go in the holes. Has any body installed this in top of the holes? Is there a concern with water getting in without the pimples?

Also, any advice on how to remove the orinal leaper? Just same as the letters?

thanks!!
(I tried palsti-deeping the Original but it inly lasted 3 weeks)
