Default Anyone interested in custom carbon fiber paddles?

Some of you may have seen my thread for a project I started last year to make custom paddles for my XKR. Well I have finally completed the first set and they are amazing. Here are some pics. Would like to see how many of you are ready to upgrade yours to something more substantial.

I'd absolutely be interested if they were just a bit smaller on the top end. Somewhere in between the stock ones and those.

Thank you for the interest, need to keep production as consistent as possible to keep time and costs reasonable but depending on feedback from others I may make them a little smaller. I just sent you a PM.

Very nicely made. My factory plastic ones have not started to peel yet. It would be a shame to lose the illuminated + and - symbols, however I think we all know which upshifts and downshifts. As long as these are not extremely pricey I think they will sell well. Keep us posted.

Thank you very much. Unfortunately at this time having printed symbols would be cost prohibitive. I really wanted them printed but have grown used to not having them. Truthfully it's like playing a musical instrument or typing, you don't stare at them while you use them so the symbols aren't that important. They are priced at $399 + shipping which is a lot better than the Jag ones. If you are interested let me know or PM me.

Count me in. Did you use the same look as the Jag carbon fiber?

The pics above are of the actual CF I am using and it does closely match Jaguar's optional real carbon fiber trim pieces & center console.

I'm interested. I've been following your threads in the other forums. Coming from an '09 M3 I was seriously disappointed with the stock paddles. Too short, and terrible tactile feel (rubber/plastic).

If they aren't too expensive I'm in.

Question

I did follow your thread with interest jhummer. After driving the F-Type now for six moths mainly in dynamic mode and using the flappy paddles. Having used them a lot, I find myself needing a hell of a lot more 'meat' above the paddle shifter both sides; you only notice this if you do happen to put anything more than a quarter of a turn of lock on and need to change gear.

I have just purchased a set of these that are easy on/off and can extend with ally until I get the feel right:

New Blade Aluminum Steering Wheel Shift Paddle Shifter Extension for Jaguar | eBay

I'll most probably end up coming your way for a set...Can you do them in Plastic/PVC that scan be sprayed say silver?

Those are interesting and cheap, but they are stick on and look like it. Mine is a complete fabricated seamless piece complete with new Jaguar electronics. If you'd like a set I may be able to paint over the carbon and then a coat of polyester over the paint.

Yep, they are.
I bought them as a bit of a trial really. They use 4 small allen key grub screws to pinch onto the existing paddles which isn't ideal. Of course, you still see the existing paddle beneath which is not great, but it was something I wanted to try so that I could gauge how much I needed to extend the top paddle upwards.

Yours, as I know from the proto build, are a league above these Chinese things :-)

Don't like it. I would like satinized metal ones similar to shape as the ones on the Porsche Sport Design steering wheel.

These ones don't blend in because I have no carbon fiber in the interior, and the shape is too wide - creating a bulky look.

I appreciate the feedback.

There are dozens of different shapes and styles from all sorts of car manufacturers and the style perference certainly can be a personal one but my goal was to make something consistent with the Jaguar shape and not too extreme as too limit others interest.

As for carbon fiber, many have it or have requested it and it was the easiest to fabricate at this time. I know I can also make them black and I am looking at possibly offering other colors such as silver if it is feasible.

Ok, all new paddles are spoken for in the first batch, unless you want to send me your paddles and still get in this group. Let me know. I wiped out everything Jaguar USA & UK had in stock and waiting on confirmation when they will have more so I can start planning the next run.

Good News for someone! I received the balance of my order from Jaguar this morning and there was one extra pair of stock paddles. Anyone who wants in, let me know.

Those look great! I may just take you up on the offer, I remember you spent a lot of time on these and the results show.
