Default Anyone with VAP tune and/or pulley pass state emissions test yet?

Has any one who has applied a VAP tune or tune and pulley gone through emissions testing and passed yet? Have any problems?

No reason you wouldn't pass. You haven't altered any emissions systems. In reality, the tuning/pulley only significantly changes WOT emissions, during which most facilities do not test.

A lot of states just do an OBD II check for emissions to check for emissions related codes - no tailpipe sampling involved. Just wondering if anyone had any issues (any codes stored that caused failure of the emissions test) or none at all.

My emissions test is coming up in the next couple of months. I'll keep you posted.

I think here in Texas, you don't need an emission test until three years after first registration but they also only read from the OBD not the tailpipe.

Thanks. Very interested in your results. The only thing keeping me from getting a pulley is its not as easily reversible as just a tune if either turns out to be an emissions pass/fail issue.

MD just seems to do an OBDii check and make sure there's a gas cap in place (they used to suction / pressure test the cap but no more). No CEL, good to go. Just did my '07 XKR last week. A couple days previously it codes for downstream o2's lazy and that CEL cleared itself the day before I took it for the test.

In MD, my county still tests the gas cap and plugs into the OBD port, but they also are looking for permanent error codes, not just a current code triggering the CEL.

They plug into OBD port and check to see if any emission codes are present and also for drive cycle codes that are in a not ready state. They look under car too but I don't know what they are looking for.

The "state" shouldn't be allowed to plug anything into anyone's car.

Can anyone out there answer this question yet? I'm due for the test in a month.

I have a VelocityAP tune on my 20013 Range Rover HSE Sport. I applied it about 2 months ago.

Got my MD test done in about 2 minutes flat about a week ago. No problem. I was a bit nervous.

Good to know, thanks. My first MD VEIP test is not scheduled until February next year (about 3.5 years after purchase), but this bit on info will allow me to rest a bit easier until then.

That is good Unhinged.

I will be moving, I hope to MA, this year and I understand the authorities there have upped the ante a bit with regards to tests.

I think the Rover will be fine however my XJR could be a problem. We will find out.

What annoys me a lot is where in the fine print they state something to the effect that if a "repair" is required a bill has to be shown that proves the repair was made.

I assume you could always flash back to stock prior to emission testing, if you're worried about it. Though I suppose that might not work for those who swapped pulleys.

In CT they conduct a basic safety check and visual inspection of the basic exhaust (making sure you have CATS). They they verify by OBDII that you are in emission ready mode (to make sure you didn't just clear any CEL codes) and thet the required monitors are in ready state (this entails a certain number of starts and drive time). They also plug in the OBDII to read and verify the VIN and they do have cameras to keep the inspectors honest. Then they stick the probe in the exhaust. I know of only a few that failed emissions due to mods but they had tune, pulley, cell 200 or 100 and high octane or water/alcohol systems. I am in CT....
