Default Audio skipping?

Hey all, I noticed this issue about a week or so ago, and thought it had gone away, but unfortunately not. The audio in my 2015 F-Type skips occasionally, not old-school CD skipping, but like just stops playing for anywhere from a half second to 3 seconds. This happens with bluetooth and when the phone is connected via USB.

Has anyone had something similar happen? I'm pretty sure my certified warranty ends...today...so I'm hoping it's nothing too labor intensive. Thanks!

Mine did the same thing but only with an iPod connected via usb. Bluetooth was always fine so I didn't really care.

I would suggest you eliminate your phone as the problem. Obviously I don't know what the problem is or what you may have tried, but for example are you streaming? Or playing mp3 files on your phone?

If streaming, of course perhaps its buffering because of the internet connection. I would suspect you would have thought of that.

Also even if playing mp3 files, if you have lots of other apps running in the background they take a bit of memory and may cause the audio player to not have enough memory for buffering the mp3 playback which would sound like skips or gaps in the playback. Especially if you don't have large amount of memory on the phone and/or the other apps use the audio playback, e.g. maps, or Waze.

Just some thoughts from a Software Engineer having built a few apps in my day.

Best of luck.

Same here. Not frequent, but the same thing has happened to me several times. The only thing that fixes it unfortunately, is to turn off the phone and/or the car!

Mine does something similar, but ONLY on normal FM Radio..
Driving along you will hear one side of the cars seem to go dead for a bit, then all fine again..
I have never heard it happen on Satellite Radio, but I listen to a 64G Jumpdrive of my own music or just the Car's own sound most of the time anyway

That’s typically the receiver flipping between FM analog and HD, and maybe surround sound kicking in when it’s HD.

My audio doesn't skip but if playing from a memory stick, the system does not retain the "shuffle" setting after the car has been sitting for a while. Anyone else have any experience with this?
Also, the backup camera lines are intermittent. Some times the solid lines appear accompanied by the broken lines; other times the broken lines do not appear. There is no pattern to this and the dealer has been no help.

I've never experienced this. I don't use the audio system much but when I do it starts from the last played point and continues to shuffle. I have a 32GB memory stick that lives in the USB port.

I have been dealing with this same issue on my 2017 XJL. It's very frustrating. At times, the system just stops playing music from the USB and then restarts. Other times, the entire system reboots. The car has been back to the dealership 4 times for this issue and escalated to Jaguar Technical. Apparently, the problem doesn't actually exist! I have now changed to a Kensington UBS and recoded all my music to be 256kbs, with level audio sound and all character wildcards removed. The car goes back in on the 26th for the dealership to verify that these changes have been made and are not making a difference. Not sure if Jaguar Technical will actually do anything this time or not.
I found this exact issue on an XE forum as well, so it seems it's a flaw in some of the units across all lines.
