Auto Transmission lock out
For the 3rd time my 2016 F-Type R-coupe (25000 miles) transmission would not engage after start up. A message came on the dash panel that said something about transmission shift fault. I need to take a picture of it. All buttons pushing did not cure the situation but shutting the car engine down twice did finally allow me to engage the transmission. Anyone else??
The very first item to check is the voltage across the battery terminals using a voltmeter. With the ignition in the OFF position, there should be a minimum of 12.6 volts, if not, the battery should be charged for at least five hours at 2 to 5 amps and then retested.
If the voltmeter indicates there is still less than 12.6 volts, the battery is suspect and should be replaced. Many of the electrical 'gremlins' and other issues chased on these forums are the result of a failing or weak battery.

The battery was replaced new under warranty in the last 6 mo. and I have had other issues like my remote start randomly not working, & the Dynamic / exhaust loudness buttons don't work at all since. Dealer wants to put computer on the car to fix. I found the negative terminal clamp was loose so fixed that. I believe you are likely correct about battery. Mine just measured 12.56 volts. I will put it on a charger to see if I can bring it up. Thanks again for the quick reply.
Charge it up as already mentioned, then pull off +ve off. Have a brew, then put it back on.
This should iron out any 'software' issues, and that's why I always suggest you carry a 3'' adjustable spanner.
