Auxiliary Battery - Purchasing Options?
I need to replace my auxiliary battery. It looks like the $40 battery that comes in my riding lawnmower. Jaguar wants several hundred dollars for this little fella. There has got to be a cheaper option. The only one I found online was being sold across the pond in England. Generic options are fine by me. Does anyone have a buy suggestion? Thanks in advance.

It's an Exide EK151.
I couldn't find any on Fleabay other than this one from Poland: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BATTERY-EXIDE-EK151/264052209448?epid=248970190&hash=item3d7abcf728:g: KZYAAOSww7tb9LRZ:rk:2f:0
But maybe you can get one for cheap from a local battery shop or auto parts store.
The best solution by far though is to simply disable the pesky stop/start system, just unbolt the end of the earth lead (which runs from the negative terminal of the stop/start battery) from where it bolts to the floor of the trunk and zip tie that end up out of the way. Very quick and easy to do and zero cost!
Or else completely remove it from the car which it looks like you may have done already.

Dunno, but now that you know which exact battery you need it would be much easier for you then me to find a US seller!
That said, judging from the Fleabay listings and Interwebz pages for Exide it seems they are very much a UK company and possibly do not have a US distributor.
Maybe there is some way you can search for a US made equivalent for the EK151?

I did this about a week into ownership.

I am having trouble figuring out why anyone would want to buy a new battery to resurrect that annoying stop/start system - unless you spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic (in which case it would be SUPER-annoying, at least to me); it really doesn't save that much fuel...the emissions from the tail pipes might be a bigger issue - that, I do recognize.
I had the system on my car disconnected within 24 hours of purchase. My dealer hasn't said a word about it at service time.

If you don't the stop/start system could decide to start working again intermittently and/or when you least want or expect it to and cause all sorts of hassles.

Use a motorcycle battery withe the same voltage / amp rating.

Use a longer screw or bolt to attach to the battery. Bolt threw the post hole opening with a washer or two secure it tight. Worked perfectly for me.
