I've heard about this too but frankly have never actually looked at the button long enough to notice.

Love the beating heart.
Love telling people who are not familiar with keyless entry that the car opens to MY smell and gentle caress
1,500 miles and still finding new things. The other night on a twisty forest road I really enjoyed the steerable headlights. Speed sensitive, made me want to go faster - like everything about this car.

Default No Heartbeat

I just got a 2016 F type base coup and today I noticed that the start button does not do the heartbeat before starting the car. My GF has an XF so I have seen the heartbeat many times in her car.

Is this something they stopped on the 2016's.

Nope. I have a V6S and it beats.

I've noticed it only starts beating once you've closed the doors.

I have yet to see mine beat, but then again, once I'm in the car I fire her up and I'm on my way. Might have to be patient and see if she has a heart beat...

I thought that it starts beating once it senses the keyfob. I'll have to check if it still does with the door open on mine.

I've noticed that it starts beating once I leave the door. OH, the car! I thought you meant my heartbeat. Sorry for the confusion. (I know...too easy).

Hey TR64ever. I started this thread thinking it was cool that the start button had a beating heart. How was I to know. FT Jag owner and I got absolutely chastised . Glad you think it's cool like me. Thanks for your comments. You're a good man...

I have tried it with doors open and closed. Foot on brake and off and no beating just steady.

I have yet to see mine beat. Door open or closed, key fob in my pocket, ignition off or on....

Does it work for anyone's 2016? I know the button used to be Ignis Orange, but now its black... perhaps another stealth change...

Don't know about the 16's and beating hearts, but the base 14-15 cars always had black start buttons with beating hearts.

The light is pretty dim, so you need to be in dark garage or at night to notice. I didn't notice it for several months after taking delivery.

Mine beats and the starter button(and paddles) are still Ignis Orange. Weird!
