On either my XKR or XJR, can't remember which one.. the start button was a bit brighter, may have been red? Anyway it stopped 'beating' and when I was in for an oil change the mechanic reprogrammed it and it was fine after that.

So, if yours doesn't work right, they should be able to fix it easily.
Lawrence.

Hey guys. If you have not done so, try putting your foot on the brake as if you are going to start it. Should beat then.

I'm pretty sure I've tried everything mentioned, and still get nothing.

My guess would be 2016's don't do it.

Not a big deal as I really couldn't care less.

Someone here within the last couple of months suggested that Jaguar's have had the "beating heart" feature on the start button for nearly a decade now, and that it was "old news."

Perhaps JLR decided it was time to move on.

Is this really important one way or the other?

That's what I thought - all US cars (including mine) have black buttons for 2016.

I wonder if that is the difference?

14-15 base cars have black buttons AND beating hearts.

It's kind of cool okay. Sorry I started this thread. People need to lighten up.

I have the Ignis (copper color) switch gear, my start button is Ignis and I have the beating heart (red) when I get in and close the door. When I am out and about, making frequent stops, I don't get the beating heart. Just get in and go. It would appear that the heart is only active when the car has been "asleep" for awhile.

The cars progressively go to sleep over a period of minutes - days, with more and more systems dropping from stand-by to off-line. I don't know at what point the heart "flag" is set in the software to turn on when you close the door.

A neat feature! Part of the car's soul, I love it. 1,800 miles in 2 months and still being amazed by little details like this.

Maybe it's checking our heart beat, an in car ekg. Makes sure we are still alive before the car is started! A safety device!

I have not yet seen mine "beat" and I've tried about everything I can think of. Perhaps it knows I had a heart attack last year and didn't want to upset me...

If that were true, I'd never be able to start a car...
