Default Brake package: thoughts?

Did you get it and do you like it?

I would like to track the car occasionally, but 95% of the time it will be street driven.

probably great for the track, but I've heard they are exceptionally sensitive, i.e. touchy, for a daily driver.
For me personally, for 12K, it was never a consideration.

Are you talking about the Carbon Ceramic brakes or the other break options for the non-R, non V8S models? I can't compare the brakes on the non-R to the R, but the R's brakes are very, very good, considering it has to stop a 4klb car! Not sure how much they are, but if I got the non-R and it was within budget I would get the R's upgraded brakes. Remember, this is heavy car to stop.

Love them on my Porsches, but unless you are tracking the car significantly the only other reason to get them is if you don't want to deal will all the brake dust you will get otherwise. Or if you want yellow calipers on a black car. That would be cool.

Probably not worth it in terms of performance, only bragging rights I think if you are tracking the car hard enough to need the CC then the F-Type isn't a good choice to begin with. Get the new Z06 with CC brakes and track that monster instead

I would steer clear not just because its expensive, but also because if you damage the rotors accidentally, it is an extremely expensive fix. Plus at 12k you can always add these later. It's not like they are good value like the BMW ones for $6-7k.

Also, if dust is your issue, there are pads for the conventional brakes that create much, much less dust.

The cost surprised me, I figure there has to be more to the option than just carbon ceramic rotors/pads.

I got my wife the F Type V8S, with the carbon ceramic brakes, it's a black car (Which I may have to confiscate cause F Type's are awesome). Unfortunately we've been out of the country since we bought it, so neither of us had a chance to drive it.

I have an SLS AMG Roadster that also has CC brakes, and I'll tell you, from my experience with the SLS, they make much less brake dust than normal brakes, they definitely stop very well and THEY LOOK AWESOME. Those are the pros. As for the cons, there's only one I can think of, and that's that they're very sensitive, touchy, whatever you want to call it in traffic. Oh yeah, the price too.

Here are pics of both cars, the pic of the F Type isn't that clear, sorry.
